Little Petra - Begin your tour from your hotel in Amman in the morning, driving to Petra. Al Beidha is an intriguing site due to its similarities with Petra. Like the ancient city of Petra, Al Beidha is built behind a narrow canyon that serves as a passageway. The Cold Siq of Al Beidha is slightly smaller than The Siq at Petra, and visitors will need to hike through it to reach the ruins of Little Petra. The cliffs surrounding the ruins of Little Petra are eroded by wind and are fascinating to see. There are numerous broken tablets around the site dating back to the Neolithic period. After exploring Al Beidha, visitors can continue to other significant sites, including the larger ancient city of Petra. It is located 20 minutes away from Al Beidha, and some organized tours include a combined visit to Little Petra and Petra.
Petra - Wadi Musa - In Petra Archaeological Park itself, there is much to see, and with few exceptions, you are free to explore everything at your leisure. The locals agree that to properly and fully explore, you need a minimum of five days. While there is certainly enough to keep you occupied for five or more days, two to three days is sufficient to visit all the highlights in and around the park. One day, or worse yet, just a morning or afternoon, is likely to disappoint those who have traveled a great distance. If possible, plan for at least two full days. A day trip to Petra from Amman is possible by taxi or bus, but again, you are likely to be disappointed and frustrated by having so much to see and do with so little time. While only official, certified guides can be hired inside ancient Petra (and all other official sites in Jordan), agencies (or you) can hire guides for other purposes such as camping, hiking, backpacking, horse/camel excursions, etc.
Petra - Wadi Rum
Petra - Wadi Musa - The main visit to Petra site, where you can start early morning to around 2-4 PM. While only official, certified guides can be hired inside ancient Petra (and all other official sites in Jordan), agencies (or you) can hire guides for other purposes such as camping, hiking, backpacking, horse/camel excursions, etc.
Wadi Rum Village - Wadi Rum is a desert area with little in the way of permanent construction or modern facilities. However, the area is incredibly popular with tourists. The main activities here are jeep safaris through the desert, like this Wadi Rum Jeep Safari Tour. Most jeep tours are around 2 hours and cover the highlights of the area, although longer half-day, full-day, or multi-day tours are also available. Many visitors opt to spend one of their overnights in Jordan in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum to gain a local experience. There are dozens of different camps in the area, some of which are quite makeshift with locals just setting up tents in the desert, while others are more Western-style resorts with cabins as well as tents, en-suite rooms, swimming pools, dining facilities, and so on. We recommend this Bedouin Experience Tour. Wadi Rum is also a major hiking area, with many trails through the desert drawing visitors. Rock climbing is also a draw to the region.
Wadi Rum - Dead Sea - Amman
Wadi Rum - Two-hour Jeep tour at Wadi Rum (at your own expense). Then drive to the Dead Sea.
Dead Sea Region - From sunbathing to mountain hiking, there are plenty of things to do around the Dead Sea. For a conveniently located Dead Sea holiday, Amman Beach is a good choice. This casual beach resort is located just one hour from the capital city and is far more basic than other nearby resorts. For something a little more luxurious, head to 0 Beach, nestled just 2 kilometers from Amman Beach. Here you can expect pristine beaches, plush spas, and luxury poolside bars complete with local DJs. This area does not offer hotels; however, accommodation can be found just a short drive away. For an extra special experience, another option would be to stay in a large luxury tent complete with butler service and a private Jacuzzi.
Amman - After visiting the Dead Sea, return to Amman to drop you off at your hotel or Queen Alia International Airport.
