Just outside the town, the Château du Clos Lucé is the former residence of Leonardo da Vinci, where he lived until his death in 1519.
• Chenonceaux - Chenonceau Castle is a remarkable example of late Gothic and early Renaissance architecture. Its unique design with its arches spanning the Cher River makes it a visually impressive site. It is often called the “Château des Dames” because of the important role played by women in its history, particularly Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici.
