British Disney but WAY better. ( I haven't even been to Disney ) - I normally aren't this late at writing reviews, but I was amazed. I live down south, so we had to book a hotel at the resort, which was ok. I VOMITED the day before, so I wasn't really in the mood. I love the fact that people that stay at the hotel can go on the newer rides early, and I really love that, purely because I rode Nemesis over and over.
It looked great until we got to Wicker man, and after I rode I... vomited... not to say the experience was tough, friday's heat was over me. Me and my family decided to take the rest of the first day chill so we headed over to Cbeebies land. It was very welcoming and watching some shows as a child it was really fun.
We ended our first day at the park with the mini golf, which was very old, but I haven't had any real fun except from that. But a bit of upgraded holes would be nice.
I forgot to mention I rode Galactica at the end of the day, and it is in my top 5.
The hotel was AMAZING. We didn't know where to eat, so we accidentally hopped over to the splash landings hotel looking for food. We heard a party above us, and there it was REAL fun. The month after we went to Universal studios and I don't really remember clearly what I wanted to see, but I didn't even THINK of seeing THIS. It still is in my head. ( The pizza was bad )
The next we rode some coasters, and they were REALLY well done. I remember seeing some youtube videos about how Alton towers has lost its 'magic' but it is SOOOO magical it can't get more magical than what I went through.
One word describes this place properly, and it is magical.
P.S. I kept spelling magical wrong. IT TAKES AGES!!!!

The mini golf is a nice add on! - This is a review for the gold, we received a free game of golf with our stay and two day park pass. The golf is super fun and each hole is theme around a ride, some need updating but I think it’s nice to have the older now gone rides. We wanted to do both courses so at the end we ran to the desk and asked if we could pay to do the second course. The two lovely staff members said that due to the fact we’d been so honest (as sometimes people try to sneak into the second course without paying) we could go ahead without paying! Super lovely treat and we were thrilled. Thank you to Doug and Marisia who were on the desk that day!!

Best theme park in England - We went to alton towers for 3 nights on April 25th- April 28th and stayed in a very well themed beachcomber room in the Splash landings hotel. Theme park was amazing rides like Wickerman, Galactica and Nemisis Reborn were all very enjoyable and I would recommend them to adrenaline junkies. The food at the hotel was amazing especially the flambo jambos buffet, it was sad to have to leave the hotel for the last time as alton towers has to go down as my number 1 favourite holiday

Alton tower short break - I went with my family for a short break the weekend after Christmas. We did day 2 admission, few rides were available but we still had a wonderful time with other festive activities. We enjoyed the waterpark which was heated. The Jack and the beanstalk Pantomime was good. But so was all the other entertainment and performances which meant we never had a dull moment on our vacation. The buffet dinner was very tasty. Shout our to Secret garden that had the most delicious steak 😋 . The hotel room was clean, the only downside the internet wasn't that great.

Overall fantastic place - We’ve always loved Alton towers. The ‘winter’ theme park was lovely, the water park was and will always be the highlight, the panto was an added bonus. We didn’t have time really to do the golf as well. The only downside to staying here is the food. The options are quite minimal, we had Flambos dinner this time, whilst the food was ok, it is not worth £85+ for a family of four.

Family weekend away - So much to do in one place. The kids absolutely love it and we try to go once a year, and stay in one of the hotels, for some quality family time.

Coeliacs avoid the food for your safety! - We had a great time at the resort over Christmas. The staff are really friendly but the food lets down the resort from all angles. My daughter is coeliac and they make no attempt to cater at all for coeliac.I tried to call and email before my visit to confirm/check if she could have the breakfast which was included.Upon arrival at the restaurant (secret garden) I was hopeful to be provided with an ‘allergen’ menu in which every single item was prohibited for her.
Most sausages are GF it appeared they had gone some distance to find so many items with gluten in.Even the butter was carelessly next to the toaster with bread crumbs all over the packets.I didn’t expect much but it appeared to be total lip service in touching an ‘allergen menu’.Coeliac is an auto immune reaction to gluten and not an allergy.Responses from customer service post visit have been non specific generalised emails. If you have an allergy or coeliac I would be very very careful as they have no training and will just hand you an allergen menu. For the remaining visit we ate in Alton in two lovely pubs.my daughter had to bring her own food to breakfast. It would have taken no effort to get some packets of GF cereal.Until the government forces companies to cater atleast something for coeliacs they will continue to pay ‘lip service’ to allergies by producing a lovely folder confirming they can eat nothing.
.I have noted other reviews mentioning cross contamination with allergies at the restaurants It is clearly a matter of time before someone gets very sick or worse. Its such a shame as it placed a dampener on an otherwise great visit.

Overpriced, overcrowded, poorly managed and so disappointing - Extremely disappointing! Booked a 'festive' overnight stay on 2nd Jan as a treat for our 2 kids. We knew some of the big rides would be closed but when we got there, it turned out about 90% of the park was closed. The only parts open were cbeebies land and another small bit, and of those, at least half the rides were closed. This meant massive queues and disappointed children. It was basically the equivalent of a poor local fun fair. We had done and seen everything we could in less than 2 hours, spent mostly queuing and wandering around aimlessly in a state of shocked bewilderment, and only got to go on 3 rides. As other reviews also say, food and drink prices were extortionate! Hotel room felt very tired and outdated but breakfast was good, despite a nightmare prebooking system. Huge queue for mini golf. Most staff looked absolutely miserable, apart from the two on hotel reception. Indoor water park next day was only ok as it was so overcrowded and my wife was sick in the days following our visit. We went to nice local pub for dinner, which was great. In summary, Alton Towers is overpriced, fails in delivery and appears to be really badly managed. Comms and transparency about the degree of park closure over the festive period was atrocious and felt extremely misleading. Would not come back.

Never book a resort in advance! - Never book a resort in advance! They drop prices without warning and refuse to offer a price match refund, no matter how many times you call. When we repeatedly contacted them, they claimed they don’t offer price matches, yet a friend of ours received one. We had to use that as proof to argue for our refund, but the entire experience was a nightmare. The inconsistency and drama they create are unacceptable—total scam!
