Great experience and memory making - Very easy to book and they waited for us even though the experience started at 10am and our ship only docked at 10am. We were driven by Dad to the farm with lots of interesting facts on the way about Alta, Norwegian life and his history. On the way he explained that due to lack of snow the sleigh had to be swapped for a carriage (hand built by him). It was raining so we were actually pleased as the carriage had a roof! The ride was lovely with explanations about the farm. They also provided blankets to put over us and to sit on. After 30 minutes we got back to the farm and taken into the sami for coffee and wonderful cinnamon rolls ( cooked by mum) and colds cuts of meat. We chatted to his daughter about the farm, the northern lights and lots of other things. We then went to meet the sheep who were inside protected for the winter (although they can go outside if they want to). We also met the horse who pulled out carriage and her daughters which was great. Afterwards Dad took us on a slightly longer journey back to the ship and showed us the local church and other interesting points. I'm sorry I can't remember their names but the whole family are lovely. We were the only 2 on this trip. I would throughly recommend booking this experience.

Wonderful and unique experience! - This was such a wonderful experience and a welcome change from the crowded cruise ship excursions! There were only the 4 in our group plus one other couple from the ship. We were met at the cruise terminal and taken to the lovely Omdal Farm in the breath -taking Mathisdalen Valley. Lots of little lambs to watch run around as well as the larger adult sheep. Since there was no snow when we were there, we had a team of two beautiful Norwegian fjord horses pull us around the farm in a wagon. After our ride, we were able to explore the farm and enjoy a snack of delicious home- made cinnamon rolls and cured meats inside their Sami tent. Anniken and her family were so friendly and informative. It was a wonderful experience spending time with them and so thankful they opened up their farm for us to enjoy! I highly recommend this tour!

An amazing experience - We were given very clear instructions where to meet. We were picked up by taxi near to the cruise ship and were driven to the Artic farm. We were welcomed warmly by Anniken and the family. The two Norwegian fjord horses were so calm and the jingle of the bells on their harnesses made the sleigh ride even more exciting. It was so peaceful in the beautiful snow covered forest. We warmed up in the Lavuu and and enjoyed the tea, snacks of cured meat and delicous home made cinnamon buns. Anniken shared her stories of farm life which was very informative. We were also given a tour of the barn and stables. We got to see the sheep and pat the horses. We had a wonderful time and I highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful afternoon - A wonderful experience in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings. We were picked up by taxi near to the cruise ship and had very clear instructions as to where to meet. At the farm we were greeted by Anniken and Marit. Marit took us on a wonderful sleigh ride with one of their horses and Anniken entertained us after in the lavuu with hot drinks, cured meats and the most delicious cinnamon buns, made by their mother. Anniken then showed us around the sheep and horses. We met Viggo briefly but everyone were very friendly.

Authentic and warm discovery of a farm in Finmark. - Very warm welcome from Viggo who came to pick us up from the boat and his daughters. Superb sleigh ride in magnificent landscapes (beautiful valley with snow-covered meadows). We warmed up around a wood fire with tea and delicious cinnamon pastries while his daughter spoke to us about life and work on a farm in the difficult conditions of Finmark. Very beautiful local breed horses. Attention!! Instead of meeting at the port, do not let yourself be taken by a taxi who will take you there and charge you! Make sure this is the service provider who is coming to pick you up. Don't deprive yourself of this interesting and warm experience.

Magical sleigh ride through the snow - We were fortunate to enjoy a lovely sleigh ride around Viggo’s family farm. We were picked up from our cruise port by Viggo and driven to his farm up in the mountains. We were welcomed by his wife and daughter, Laila and Marit. The area was so peaceful and magical with the snow and scenery. One of the ponies was brought out and attached to the sleigh and Viggo took us on a ride around his farm talking all the time about life on the farm. On our return Marit took us into a traditional Sami tepee called a lavuu where there was a fire in the middle and hot coffee, tea, beautifully cinnamons buns, made by Laila, and cold meats for us to enjoy. We sat around the fire talking to Marit about life as a young person living in Alta. Viggo and Marit then showed us where the animals are kept in the winter months and the sheep were very friendly and came up to us when we walked up to their pens. The experience is one we shall remember for a long time. Thank you to you all.

A truly warming Norwegian experience - We were lucky enough to experience the warm hospitality of Viggo, Laila and Marit at their Arctic farm this morning. We were collected by Viggo right by our cruise ship in Alta and driven to their family farm where we were introduced to all the family. Then one of the family’s Norwegian fjord pony’s and Viggo took us for a sleigh ride around the snowy countryside which was spectacular. All the time Viggo was telling us about his family and his life which was so interesting. On our return to the farm we were treated to hot drinks and snacks including Laila’s gorgeous warm cinnamon buns, seated round a fire in the family’s Norwegian tepee and being entertained by Marit. Before being brought back to the ship, we saw the family’s sheep and some pets! It was such a wonderful morning, a chance to experience a true Norwegian way of life with a very welcoming family. Thank you so much!
