Embark on a delightful 3.5-hour cycling tour through the picturesque Dutch countryside and vibrant tulip and spring flower fields. Departing from Alkmaar’s city center, the guide will lead the group into the nearby flower-growing region, utilizing dedicated cycle paths whenever possible. This tour is perfect for those wishing to witness the enchanting beauty of springtime in the Netherlands.
Please be aware that bike rental is not included in the tour price
- Due to the physical nature of this tour, the minimum age is 16 years
- Bike helmets are not available to rent. If you want to wear a helmet then you must bring one with you.
- All participants will be required to complete a Liability Waiver prior to the tour’s commencement
- Tours will be cancelled if a weather warning has been issued within 24 hours of the tour or if the winds exceed 29km/hr or 4 on the scale of Beaufort.
- Please dress appropriately for the tour. Bikes include small bags where you can store belongings.
- Participants must be physically fit enough to confidently cycle +/-20km

The tour will depart from near the entrance to the Stedelijke museum in Alkmaar's city centre. Your guide will be standing with a sign that says 'Alkmaar Tours'.
The museum in approximately 10 mins walk away from the Alkmaar Train Station. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of your tour.

Book This Tour!! - Excellent tour with Jen!! She took the time to customize the trip for us and ensured that we had a safe, comfortable route to follow as we visited the most BEAUTIFUL tulip farms imaginable. It was unreal and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam/Alkmaar. Jen also provided delicious snacks and gave excellent lunch recommendations after the tour! 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam, Alkmaar or the surrounding region!!

Tulips Tulips Tulips via two wheels - Jen was a fantastic tour guide thru the tulip fields! She did an awesome job taking us to beautiful fields and we went up to the lookout point to see the field colors from above and the sand dunes! She also provided numerous recommendations of things to do in town and around the Netherlands! Highly recommend booking a tour with Jen!

A must-do! - Do not miss! The beauty of the bike ride to the tulip farms was worth it alone. The different tulip fields were amazing. And Jen was a wonderful guide. She knows a lot about the area and is very friendly and a great host. She even walked us around the town a bit after the ride to make sure we didn’t miss anything.

Absolutely GREAT! - I found Alkmaar Tours on the internet when researching cycling around Alkmaar. From the moment of contact, the owner of Alkmaar Tours, Jennifer Rigby, was highly responsive. I emailed Jen with many questions and concerns. She was consistently timely and thorough in her responses. She went far beyond my expectations to tailor make a fabulous cycling day. As a novice rider, I found Jen to be highly organized, knowledgeable, supportive, encouraging and fun. She provided an incredibly interesting tour with a variety of sights to see. We had such a great experience we immediately booked a second day with Jen. If you are looking for a cycling tour, look no further!

Amazing! - My friend and I luckily found out about Alkmaar Tours when we were thinking about coming to Alkmaar to bike. We connected with the owner of Alkmaar Tours, Jennifer Rigby, and never looked back.
Jen has offered a level of service second to none. She asked us questions about our interests and preferences and personally designed an itinerary to meet our needs. We found her resourceful, knowledgeable, supportive and well equipped. She provided an absolutely amazing trip. We highly recommend Alkmaar Tours.

Bike Tour - Great bike tour with Jen, she very friendly and wonderful.. thanks for the tour without you we might not able to see the tulip fields and your advise how to take a good picture of the tulips. We had a wonderful time in Alkmaar and let us keep the bike even the tour had ended😆 also we love the fresh milk from the farm👍👍 will definitely recommend to all my friends when they visit in Amsterdam. ❤️

The highlight of my trip to the Netherlands - I was searching for a small group bicycle tour of tulip fields away from the mass tourism crowds when I was fortunate to discover Alkmaar Tours. Jennifer, the ebullient owner, led 5 of us on a 22km ride through a rainbow of fields she had carefully scouted just days before to ensure we would be viewing flowers at their peak. The trip combined the authenticity of cycling through working flower growing areas with Jen’s experience of where and how to get the best photos. I recommend cycling with Jen in or out of flower season. It’s one thing to see the picturesque Dutch countryside in museum paintings but it’s a completely different experience on a bicycle in the fresh air led by a guide with a passion for the area and her clients. Don’t let logistics from Amsterdam deter you. I was able to walk up to the domestic ticket window at the central station, purchase a 16 euro round trip ticket without waiting, and received instructions on the platform and departure time for the roughly 30 minute ride. Thanks to Jennifer, I had an exceptional experience bicycling and uncovered a newly discovered desire to see more of the Netherlands.

The fingers-crossed Tulip Tour - We planned our trip to Alkmaar to include a bike tour of tulips. However, we had to wait until the first week of May, knowing that there was a strong chance that many/most tulip fields would be ‘headed’ before we even arrived!! Although Jen’s tours ended by thee d of April, I asked if she could set a May 3 date for us ( the winter had been cold and lasted longer this year so flowers would also be delayed).
Jen was AMAZING!!! She booked it with the reassurance that we’d be refunded if flowers were gone. She messaged with me on ‘What’s App’ and even send me updates and pictures of the fields😂 Believe it or not, we were here last tour. The weather was gorgeous, the sun was out, Jen took pictures of/with us, and she took us to so many amazing fields that were still in bloom!!! This was a dream come true. Afterwards, Jen hung around with us for awhile, shared some ‘frites’ and told us of some Alkmaar history!!! Look no further, this lady knows her facts, is highly personable, and will feel like your best friend!!!

Great bike trip, Beautiful area, Wonderful way to beat the crowds during spring flower season - We met Jennifer in the town of Alkmaar and set out for our bike trip. She brought us to the bike shop and then we headed out for the fields and countryside of North Holland. She customized the tour so that we were able to get the benefit of the fields that were in bloom at that time, and she threw in some old ruins and a little education about Dutch food and cheese at the local market. She was very prepared (with water, and saddle bags to carry the stuff that I was overloaded with) this was a great experience.

The trip was cancelled.... - The trip was cancelled. Most fields have been stripped. No criticism of the tour provider. Just the opposite
