In the afternoon, visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to delve into the rich Aboriginal heritage, geology, and ecology of the area. From there, travel to the base of Uluru, where a walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole awaits, exploring sacred rock art and hearing ancient Dreamtime stories of Kuniya and Liru. Uluru to Kata Tjuta to Kings Canyon

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - Rise early for a light breakfast before heading into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to witness a stunning Red Centre sunrise. As the first light touches the desert, admire the majestic silhouette of Kata Tjuta—a striking contrast to Uluru’s monolithic form.

Next, embark on a hike through either the Valley of the Winds or Walpa Gorge, weaving between the towering domes and absorbing the striking geology and ancient beauty of this sacred landscape.

After exploring Kata Tjuta, journey towards Kings Canyon, arriving just in time for another unforgettable Outback sunset. End the day around the campfire with a hearty dinner, sharing stories under a sky full of stars.

Kings Canyon to West MacDonnell Ranges

Kings Canyon - Rise early once more and venture into the sacred lands of the Ulpanyali and Lilla people to explore the spectacular Kings Canyon (Watarrka)—often referred to as the crown jewel of Central Australia. Towering sandstone walls over 100 metres high surround as you hike through this awe-inspiring landscape. Bring a hat, water, and sturdy shoes to explore the rim and descend into hidden chasms, marvelling at the canyon’s geology and rare flora and fauna.

After a well-deserved rest, journey north, passing through Alice Springs, and continue towards the West MacDonnell Ranges, arriving at a remote campsite. Here, the outback reveals its magic as you gather around the campfire for a hearty meal, relax with fellow travellers, and enjoy an unforgettable stargazing experience in the clear, unpolluted skies of remote Central Australia.

Tjoritja West MacDonnell Ranges and Standley Chasm to Alice Springs

Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park - Begin the final day of the journey in the West MacDonnell Ranges, starting with Ormiston Gorge. Surrounded by towering red cliffs, enjoy breakfast in this peaceful setting, reflecting on the forces that shaped the land. As the sun rises, keep an eye out for native wildlife stirring in the cool morning air.

Next, visit Ellery Creek Big Hole (Udepata), one of Central Australia’s most scenic waterholes. Framed by rugged cliffs and sandy banks, it offers a refreshing place to swim and unwind.

Then, explore the dramatic Standley Chasm (Angkerle Atwatye), where narrow sandstone walls rise up to 80 metres high, creating a striking natural corridor rich in cultural significance. The final stop is Simpsons Gap, a beautiful site with a permanent waterhole nestled between cliffs. It’s a peaceful place that holds deep meaning as a meeting point of several Aboriginal dreaming trails. As you return to Alice Springs, reflect on four days of exploration.
