- Pompey’s Pillar - Discover Pompey’s Pillar and the Serapeum. This location was home to the main temple of Serapis, which also served as a library of religious texts and housed three subterranean galleries for the Apis bull. The pillar, standing 28 meters tall, was erected in 293 CE.
The third site is the Library of Alexandria, which opened in 2002. The original library was established in the 3rd century BCE. The new library is designed to accommodate 8 million books and features several interesting exhibitions.
The fourth site is Fort Qaitbey, also known as the Old Lighthouse. This fort occupies the most prominent location in Alexandria, built around 1480 on the site of the famous Pharos lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
