- Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu) - Khufu’s pyramid complex features a valley temple, now buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman. Diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls have been discovered, but the site remains unexcavated. The valley temple was connected to a causeway, largely destroyed during the village’s construction.
- Khafre’s Pyramid - Khafre’s pyramid complex includes a valley temple, the Sphinx temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple revealed several statues of Khafre, discovered in a well by Mariette in 1860 and during later excavations by Sieglin, Junker, and Reisner.
- Menkaure Pyramid - Menkaure’s pyramid complex comprises a valley temple, a causeway, a mortuary temple, and the king’s pyramid. The valley temple once housed several statues of Menkaure. During the 5th Dynasty, a smaller ante-temple was added. The mortuary temple also yielded several statues of Menkaure.
- Great Sphinx - The Sphinx, the legendary guardian with a lion’s body and the head of King Chephren, stands by the vast funeral complex.
- Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Visit Sakkara, located 27 km southwest of Cairo. See the Step Pyramid, built for King Zoser, an important part of the pyramid evolution from simple mastabas to their well-known form.
- Bent Pyramid - Explore the Dahshur Pyramids, including the Bent and Red Pyramids. Dahshur is a royal necropolis in the desert on the West Bank of the Nile, about 40 km south of Cairo. It is known for some of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved pyramids in Egypt, built between 2613–2589 BCE.
- Memphis and Sakkara - Visit Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, home to the colossal statue of Ramses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx. This city dates back to 3100 B.C.
- Pyramid of Unas - The Pyramid of Unas, built in the 24th century BC for Pharaoh Unas, is the smallest Old Kingdom pyramid but significant for the discovery of Pyramid Texts. These spells for the king’s afterlife were inscribed in the walls of its subterranean chambers and continued in the pyramids of later rulers and into the Middle Kingdom through the Coffin Texts, forming the basis of the Book of the Dead.
- Pyramid of Teti - Located in Saqqara, the Pyramid of Teti is an ancient structure built as the final resting place for Pharaoh Teti. It stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of the Old Kingdom and attracts visitors worldwide. Explore its chambers and corridors to uncover the mysteries of ancient Egypt.
- Mastaba of Ti - The Mastaba of Ti, discovered by Auguste Mariette, is one of Saqqara’s most important archaeological sites. It contains two serdabs, and its walls depict various scenes of everyday life.
