Although the main museum is currently closed, you can still enjoy the grand open court, featuring the world’s first hanging obelisk belonging to King Ramses II. Enter the museum courtyard to admire the magnificent Statue of Ramses II, carved from a single massive piece of red granite. Continue to explore the other colossal statues displayed throughout the courtyard. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum’s official store and nearby local restaurants and coffee shops.
• The Grand Egyptian Museum - Proceed to The Grand Staircase, which takes visitors to different floors via steps, travellators, and elevators, culminating in a panoramic view of the Giza Pyramids. Walk among the large statues and other objects related to kingship, which will impress with their scale and grandeur. See the red granite colossus of King Seti I, Queen Hatshepsut, and the pillars, columns, and obelisk tops dedicated to various ancient Egyptian royalties. Also, visit King Tut’s Immersive Exhibition if available, as the show will conclude on May 30th, 2024.
• The Grand Egyptian Museum - Explore the newly opened galleries of the GEM, an incredible area featuring 18 halls. Here, you will discover a stunning collection of over 8,000 newly displayed ancient artifacts, each narrating a part of Egypt’s rich history during the Ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman periods. • Giza - Then, move on to the delightful part of the tour and taste authentic Egyptian traditional cuisine. You can choose to try Koshary, a special combination of rice, noodles, chickpeas, black lentils, fried onions, and tomato sauce, or Shawarma, made of spit-roasted layers of lamb, beef, or other meat, often wrapped in or served with pita. Alternatively, enjoy a Falafel sandwich (deep-fried balls or patties made from chickpeas or fava beans, sometimes both), with Fava beans and Baba Ganoush sandwiches (made of eggplant blended with tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and salt). At the end of your tour, you will be driven back to your hotel.
