Quality through and through, that is Star Travel. - When I go to a new place, often there is just one day in port. Making the most of that time is paramount. Finding the best tour operator with the best guide makes that time memorable. And in Akureyri, the best is Reynir of Star Travel. I brought along 17 friends on an eight hour tour with nine stops ... guided and driven by the much-vaunted Siggi, who was fabulous. He told us about life in Iceland ... while visiting ... overlooks, waterfalls, lava stacks, caves, mud pots and sulfur steam vents, craters, thermal baths, heart-shaped traffic lights, a soaring concrete church, and drive-by of a giant Viking beer can. Those last two were kindly added at our request. Most dramatic was a crack in the Earth where the North American plate is pulling apart from the Eurasian plate. We all had a fabulous day, with many thanks to Siggi and Reynir.

Stunning Highlights of Northern Iceland - Our guide and driver, Hogni, collected us from our hotel in Akureyri and we really got a personalized tour since there were only two of us! Unfortunately, the weather created some challenges - the roads to some of the sights on our itinerary were closed. However, our guide was fantastic at managing these changes, ensuring that we felt safe at all times and suggesting alternative options for us since we returned to Akureyri earlier that expected (the charming Christmas House was a great recommendation!). Despite the inclement weather, we saw some amazing sights that were very different from the scenery we'd experienced in the south. Some of the highlights included: Goðafoss waterfall, Dimmuborgir lava field, Hverfjall volcanic crater, Grjótagjá Cave (though the weather conditions didn't allow us to enter the cave) and Námafjall geothermal field. Hogni shared fascinating facts about each of the locations. If you're looking for an informative and professional tour filled with breathtaking scenery, I highly recommend any tour with Hogni and Star Travel!

So much to see - August was our tour guide and he was a genuinely nice guy who went out of his way to give us good information and to take care of our needs. We saw so many sites including waterfalls, volcanic formations, and many other things. He was easy to understand and we can’t say enough good things about him. Don’t miss this tour.
