Unforgettable experience in Akureiri - The tour was perfect. Pick up at punctual time. Guide Agust, the best I've ever met. He explained everything patiently, and very kind to the whole group. Star Travel and Agust, 100% recommended. Thank you for an unforgettable experience in Akureiri.

So much to see - August was our tour guide and he was a genuinely nice guy who went out of his way to give us good information and to take care of our needs. We saw so many sites including waterfalls, volcanic formations, and many other things. He was easy to understand and we can’t say enough good things about him. Don’t miss this tour.

Beautiful family trip from the cruise ship to Lake Myvatn and Godafoss - We were in Akureyri on a cruise ship in June 2024 and wanted to take our 10-month-old baby on a shore excursion to see the region. Unfortunately, it was not easy to find a provider who was willing to take a baby. In the end, we chose Star Travel because they signaled to us quite easily here that this would be possible and you could also provide a suitable child seat. In the morning our guide Rúnar picked us up on time directly at the ship with a minibus. The group consisted of only 6 people and the matching baby seat for our little one was already on the bus. Rúnar has proven to be a great guide as he has repeatedly told us a lot of interesting and regional information with his friendly, relaxed and easy-going nature. We could see a lot of the beautiful and interesting scenery around Lake Myvatn with the tour and of course experience the great waterfall Godafoss. The day was also totally uncomplicated and stress-free for us as a family with a baby. In the end we were back on time at the ship without having to worry about the all abord time. Many thanks to our great guide Rúrar for an unforgettable day in Iceland. We can recommend Star Travel without reservation!

SO worth it! - An absolutely charming excursion with a delightful hostess who was from Poland. We saw well known important sites as well as small off-the-beaten path locations. Everything felt fresh and unhurried although we were picked up and returned exactly on time. Highly recommend it!

Simply stunning!! - This was such an incredible tour of Akureyri and all of its natural beauty!! We had the best driver and tour guide who was very passionate about his country. At the group's request we skipped the nature bath and visited Dettifoss waterfalls. One of the most powerful waterfalls that took our breath away!! Lake Myvatn was also stunningly beautiful! He got us back to the pier at 5pm which was perfect for our ship's departure at 6pm. He ensured that we saw all the main sights during this day tour. I would highly recommend this tour as you won't be disappointed!

The Bath is a MUST! - We were glad to find this tour after a few failed attempts with groups that were not flexible with their start time with the ship's arrival.  We were not capped by an end time as our ship was docked overnight.  Now, having been there and it basically doesn't get dark, I can't imagine why a company that makes its living catering to tourists would not do so.  I digress - this company was wonderful in timing and the amount of things we saw throughout our tour. We had a group of 11 today, which was not bad, only at the first stop there was a miscommunication and 2 of the groups went missing for like 40 minutes and held us up. 6 of the group are from Brazil and at least 4 of them don’t really understand English.  Why would you take an English tour in a foreign country if you don’t understand the language?  It must have been so annoying and frustrating for our guide. Our first stop was a waterfall.  Don’t ask me the name (Icelandic is hard).  It was nice…and cold.  Not quite Niagara Falls, but with the mountains surrounding it, it was beautiful.  Did I mention that it snowed here 3 days prior, so all the mountains were snow-capped and amazing looking?! We also went to a crater and saw some bubbling mud.  I’m not good for the specifics, but it truly was a feast for the eyes today.   Part of the tour was at the natural bath.  We were on the fence of whether or not to go today, it was a bit slimy and certainly stinky, but when it was all said and done we felt amazing.  Sadly, the bath was expanding, so there was a crane and such that ruined the "nature" part of it somewhat.  I highly recommend taking a watch or phone (and keep it out of the water) - we were without both, so had no idea of what time it was and we were on a schedule.   I would have wished for a bit more history and info, but I think the driver was a bit put out by half of the group not knowing English.  But he answered all our questions and was a good driver.  Overall, it was a nice introduction to Iceland.

Poor corporate communication made for anxious beginnings of tour - Full day exploring the geothermal landscape of Myvatn and the natural baths. The guide worked hard at packing in a lot to see and was knowledgeable. We enjoy the small groups and compact bus because we can maneuver around places big buses can’t go and quicker for in and out. But there was conflicting and contradictory information from the Viator page and the final documents. Everyone was confused as where to meet for pick up and drop off and 2 passengers were given the wrong time and waited for 2 hours. Fortunately, the natural baths were relaxing end to a busy day.

Beautiful Waterfalls but Lake Myvatn was a challenge with the bugs - It was a good beautiful drive from Reykjavik. The Godafoss Waterfall was beautiful and scenic. We visited the nature baths and the Geothermal areas as well. The main problem that we experienced was Lake Myvatn. Even though it was picturesque, the flies were too much to handle. they were everywhere. It made it a bad experience and not enjoyable. Lots of money to have flies in your mouths and ears. I know it is nature at its best but just too . Tour guide company should have offered head nets for us and informed us upfront in the description. It would have to set the expectations properly. But then again, who would sign up for the tour if they would have disclose the flies?

Wrong itinerary - The driver seemed to have the wrong itinerary as when we arrived at Myvatyn we were told that we had a 1/2 hour for lunch then after go to see a farm. When we said no we are supposed to have a 1-1/2 hour nature bath. The driver said then no lunch & no farm. We all agreed to exclude the lunch & farm. Have no idea why the driver had the wrong info. We then incurred a $50 admission fee instead of $5 which my granddaughter and I were both told on a mutual phone call. Currently trying to work these problems out with Star Travel.
