Fantastic Day! - Best shore excursion we’ve ever done anywhere! We were only four people on the tour, which made for a very personalized experience. The scenery was spectacular. The highlight for me was the boiling pits of mud & clay. You couldn’t fit more into one day if you tried. Very knowledgeable and safe driver/tour guide. Couldn’t recommend this more!

Super! - We enjoyed the excursion with Sigi as our guide very much. Sigi is a great storyteller and knows a lot about de history and nature of this part of Iceland. He goes off road and shows much more than stated in the description of the tour. One of us is wheelchair bounded and the vehicle is very good accessible with a ramp. We recommend this tour and this guide.

An amzing tour with the family. - We took this tour from the port of Akureyri from our cruise ship. Jonas met us at the gate and gave us a bottle of water and a chocolate each. The mini bus only took 8 guests on this tour, so it was very comfortable. I went with my two teenage sons and my brother-in-law. The weather was very sunny, which gave us good light for our pictures. Jonas was very polite, courteous and informative about the local area. We stopped at a small siding in the new tunnel to look at how it was built. We then stopped at Godafoss Falls, Lake Myvatn and the Psuedo Craters. After this we visited the bubbling mud pools and sulphur pits on the other side of the mountain. We stopped off at Dimmuborgir and the bathing pool/cave close to the techtonoc plates. All theses stops were amazing and unforgettable, we managed to get some brilliant pictures. My sons loved the whole experience. on the way back to Akureyri, Jonas stopped for us to have a convenience break. The whole trip was well worth it and cheaper than the cruise ship price where you will be on a coach with 40 other people! I totally recommend this tour. Since 1999, I have actually done this tour (or similar) with various other companies. I can honestly say that this tour was one of the best. My only criticism, is that we needed a little more time in places like Godafoss falls. This is down to the increase in tourism in the area. Fighting past other coach parties to get to places now takes longer due to the amount of people in the same place. Other than that, I totally recommend this tour. 10/10.

Great tour of the major sites near Akureyi - From stopping in the tunnel to feel the temperature of the walls to the speactular Godafoss waterfall, this was a comprehensive trip of the area around Akureyri. We learned more about geothermal heating, saw the troll rocks, and a large lava crater much less touristy than the one the Golden Circle. We had a car and driver, so the time spent at each location was up to us. We couldn't have had a better day!

A company that goes beyond what’s expected! - Jonas & his team gave us a fabulous experience of Lake Myvatn and Godafoss, dealing with a bus breakdown by simply adding an additional car, so we had an excellent private tour. By deciding to skip lunch, additional stops were added to the tour (like a drive through town to show us the famous church and botanical garden, an explanation of the tunnel construction above Akureyri where hot water was found, and a warm shower open to the public out in the middle of nowhere), all this in addition to the impressive geothermal sites on most tours. We were really impressed with Jonas and our guide and would highly recommend this company for an excellent independent tour from a cruise ship. It is important to specify the time you want to be back on board, as we made it back at exactly all-aboard time.

Upsetting to great - Great trip! However, it was not with the company we had booked with. We had been on board ship without wifi. We searched for about 3/4 hour for the the company's tour bus, to no avail. At 10.00, the tour time, we were directed to a different area where were were told that we were going with a different company and we had been emailed a couple of days beforehand to tell us this. As stated beforehand, we had no wifi, rendering this late communication useless to us. There was no notice at the port to tell us of the change. It made us very unhappy and stressed at the start of the tour. However, we loved the tour and Imagine Tours were great.
