Marvelous experience! - Definitely should try this experience while in Iceland! We wanted to try the husky sledding but it was not in season in Oct, so we decided to go for the husky hiking experience - which was something we have not done before. It turned out to be just as a wonderful experience, if not more!
Gunnar and Maria are very friendly, greeting and welcoming us with big smiles on their faces. Coming from a very warm country and not having much experience with dogs, we got to have up-close and personal interactions with huskies while hiking with them and got to see them in their natural element and being so eager to pull us along. Gunnar was a very passionate and wonderful storyteller, sharing with us about how all of their huskies came about and how they changed his life. It was really inspiring to hear! For the second part of the tour, we were invited into their cozy home and the feeling of being surrounded by so many adorable fluffy huskies was paradise! They shared about their routine and life with the huskies, the many awards and trophies they have won from competitions throughout the years, and we learned so much about huskies! They have made use of the space in their house to efficiently accommodate all 26 huskies and was interesting to see.
Maria was also very kind, even offering her jacket so my wife’s light-coloured jacket wouldn’t get dirty when the huskies got over-excited and wanted to hug us when they were first introduced. Thank you Gunnar and Maria for giving us such an unforgettable experience, and being such kind and friendly people, sharing your life stories and home with us, and we can tell that the huskies love you guys a lot!

Dog Lover Fun - All the dogs were friendly and the opportunity to see them in their home environment made it very unique. Gunni, Maria, and Naarvy were engaging and warm as they shared their world with us.

Excellent Choice! - We had so much fun meeting this giant family of huskies! We took them for a walk to burn off some of their energy and then spent some time looking at the enclosure and housing for 21 adult dogs. The hosts were funny and kind people who were lovely to meet. Every dog was well behaved and extremely obedient. Even if you haven't had a ton of experience with dogs, I think you could have a great time with this adventure.

Don’t pass up a chance to do this if you can! - This was an awesome experience! The dogs are really well trained and easy to spend time with. The walk was a brisk 45 minutes and very well-organized. This man loves his dogs! And the puppies! So lovely to have a chance to spend time with 9-week-old puppies too. All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon. Highly recommend!

Ten stars out of five! - This was the highlight of my trip to Iceland. The family picked us up downtown and drove us to their beautiful place on the water. We were greeted by 21 huskies and got to pet them for a while, then were given a harness and paired with a dog and went on a beautiful hike in the woods. The dogs each have their own personalities and are so funny. When we finished the hike we had more time to pet the dogs and see the house where they all live. The family is warm and generous, and they are geniuses for creating this experience. There were surprises at the end too — I don’t want to spoil them. If you love dogs, I highly recommend this!!!

Must do in Akureyri ..GoHusky Trekking - goHusky trekking is located on the northern outskirts of Akureyri and spending time with them was a real treat. I had a car do drive but they offer pickup too. What a great operation Gunnar and Marìa have with this business.
The huskies gave me a very boisterous welcome upon arrival. Apparently they launch into this singing, as they are pleased to see visitors.
Simple commands and they quieten down very quickly. The owners start training their huskies with obedience commands from the get go, showing dedication and patience, more evident throughout my visit.
All the huskies were introduced to me. Who were excited, not sure if it was just seeing me or they knew it meant a walk when visitors arrived, it was their way of saying ‘pick me, pick me’ mentality! by the huskies!
Marìa gave me a background talk on ‘why and how’ this business was started Then we got ready for the husky hike. The huskey’s age/ temperament matched to me. Which was great.
We went on a local trail and it was great having one on one time with the husky and Marìa. To questions about the husky way of life.
We were fortunate with the weather, late in the afternoon made it a delightful experience.
Upon return I was introduced to the husky’s environment, which included the house as the husky’s are members of the family.
I got to see the newest members of the family, the puppies. They were adorable.
