Highlights
  • Akhaltsikhe - Depart from Tbilisi in the morning. Begin cycling from the village near the Akhaltsikhe castle ruins, located 50 km west of Tbilisi in the old Kartli region. The route follows the Tedzami river upstream. After crossing a narrow wooden bridge, you’ll pass the picturesque Drisi Castle perched above.
  • Rkoni - After crossing another stream, you’ll arrive at Rkoni village. The route then leads to the ancient Rkoni monastery complex (7th century) and an old stone bridge.

Over the centuries, the complex has been renovated and altered multiple times. Today, it attracts visitors with its wild nature and beautiful setting.

On the return journey, the route takes a different path, ascending to the low Green Mountain Pass (1030m).

From the highest point of the pass, you can enjoy a stunning view of the Mtkvari river gorge and, in good weather, the high range of the Great Caucasus.

Afterwards, descend to the gathering point, which marks the end of the cycling tour.

Throughout the journey to and from the Rkoni complex, cyclists are accompanied by old temples and fortification ruins.
