Don’t miss this when you are in Penang/Georgetown - My advice - go early before the crowds hit. I took city bus #204 up to the ticket office and arrive around 9:15 and walked right in after I got my ticket. Lovely up there - much cooler and a breeze!!! Saw some monkeys and wandered happily for over an hour!! Don’t miss this!!!

A must-do for every Penang visitor - Despite high crowds, you have to wait, but not queue up, as each guest is assigned a batch with time. The ride is very fast and it is quite steep uphill. The view and the stay was very eventful!

Great Day - The Penang Funicular is a fantastic way to spend a day exploring Penang! The ride up offers stunning views, and once at the top, you’re surrounded by lush greenery and fresh mountain air. The nature walk was a peaceful escape from the city, with well-maintained trails and plenty of scenic spots to enjoy. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any wildlife, but the experience was still well worth it. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing stroll or just want to take in the breathtaking views, this is definitely a must-do in Penang!

Do it - Don’t book with bookingdotcom, nearly everything is more expensive with them as purchasing locally, and no it’s not the last available ticket) Was a very long wait time to enter the Funicular (2 hours). Well worth the wait, jaw dropping beauty, immaculate air, nature pure, wild animals, jungle and flora! Wow, wow, wow. I will do it again.

Nice trip - Interesting trip in the inclined train, but it was quite crowded. Great scenaries while going up or coming down. Ticketing was easy

Breathtaking views but concerning treatment of animals and unkept public toilets - We made a family trip to Penang Hill last week after years of being away from Malaysia. It was a much anticipated trip that we were all excited about. We made our way to the ticket office early in the morning to avoid crowds, but by 8am, it was already starting to get busy. The train ride up was fast, although too many people were made to fit in each carriage - made it feel a little claustrophobic in the heat.  Once up in Penang Hill, the views are majestic...absolutely breathtaking and if you're lucky, families of dusky leaf monkeys may pop up. birdsong from various species singing - a joy to the soul. All in all, we enjoyed the walk around the Habitat and buggy ride around Penang Hill, but we were dismayed and shocked by a number of things we experienced: 1. The photography centre by the tourist information stand:  Two young people were unloading the animals from sacks and into plastic containers. The animals - snakes and lizards were handled really roughly, using bare hands they were picked up and  basically thrown into the containers. We asked them to please be careful and were told 'ni biasalah' meaning it's normal and ignored us. We have a video of the way the animals were handled and will be sending it to the appropriate authorities. There were also a couple of parrots on a stand. Parrots are sensitive and must be looked after by people who are trained or understand the species.  Snakes and lizards were kept in unsuitable plastic containers for the length of time the place needed them for photographs with the public who paid to get them done in a bright area.  The animals really should be handled by trained, kind people /animal lovers who understand their behaviour and needs instead of two young people who were obviously untrained and disinterested in the animals and could not care less. These animals were unloaded and presented for photograph opportunities  when we arrived around 8.30 a.m., and when we left at 4 p.m., when the temperature was a lot warmer, they were still there in that small stone hut.  Please please look into improving the condition the animals are kept as well as the handlers and the area where they are left to rest until people want to use them as props for photographs. 2. Public toilet by the cafe - the building needs to be thoroughly cleaned and upkept given the number of people using it every day. The condition is abysmal. 3. Please put up signs telling people and children to not chase ANY animals. We stopped a group of children chasing a poor, scared dog, throwing sticks and shouting at the poor thing.. If the dog had turned around to protect itself from these idiots, the poor creature would have been put down. 4. The Habitat Traverse the Langur Way Canopy Walk we loved the walk through the jungle canopy.  It would be a good idea to put up signs advising people to not shout loudly or make loud noises while on the walk as it no only ruins the experiences for others, but it scares off the wildlife. Curtis Crest Tree Top Walk Please put up signs telling people not to jump on the bridge or run around as it ruins the experience for others and can be potentially dangerous to the structure. We really hope the people that run the show take the welfare of not just the wild animals but also the animals that are beings used for photographs. It's cruel and unkind to allow them to be handled roughly. 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.'

Not recommended - - Its honestly a joke. Its over crowded because they try to fill in with as many people as they can. People are standing and its just like a rush hour travel on metro. Queues are long and in the evening they will run every 30min and people will be in like sardines.
