Cusco to Cruzpata ATV Base Camp

Here, you will witness the advanced agricultural techniques of the Incas, including their terracing system and aqueduct-based irrigation. Moray’s circular terraces are a testament to the high cultural achievements of the Inca civilization. After exploring this remarkable site, the next stop is the Salt Mines of Maras.
Salinas de Maras - Located in the rural community of Pichingoto, the “salt pools” of Maras are a must-see for photography enthusiasts due to their breathtaking landscape. This area is also ideal for hikers and mountain bikers, as the trail links the salt mines with the villages of Tarabamba and Pichingoto, where locals continue the traditional salt extraction methods of their ancestors.
Following the visit to the salt mines, enjoy a delightful lunch at a local restaurant in Urubamba.
Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes) - From Ollantaytambo, your train departs at approximately 3:37 PM to Aguas Calientes, a journey of about 1.5 hours. During the ride, take in the stunning views of the valleys and Andes mountains. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, a charming town at the base of Machu Picchu, your transfer will be waiting at the train station to escort you to your chosen hotel.

Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu - Today is the highlight of the trip, with a visit to Machu Picchu. A 25-minute bus ride will take you to the site, where a 2-hour guided tour of your designated circuit awaits. It is essential to book this trip at least three months in advance, as tickets sell out quickly. After the tour, a bus will take you back to Aguas Calientes. From there, an afternoon or evening train will return you to Ollantaytambo, followed by transportation back to your hotel in Cusco.

Machu Picchu online tickets often sell out months in advance. The Cultural Office in Aguas Calientes releases a limited number for in-person purchase only. August and most of September 2025 are already sold out for online reservations. If online tickets are unavailable, arrive early the day before with your passport to purchase in person. During peak times, plan for 2–3 extra nights in Aguas Calientes.
