Puerto de Carboneras, 41 - The adventure starts at Playa de los Muertos, a stunning beach named after the currents that brought shipwrecks to its shores. From this point, the Mesa Roldan Lighthouse can be seen, perched on a volcanic dome; it is one of Spain’s tallest lighthouses and has been featured in series like Game of Thrones.
Heading south, the journey continues to Cala Arena, where fossilized lava forms “rock cathedrals” that showcase Almeria’s volcanic history. Before entering the village, there will be a stop at the Mineral Cargo, a gem of industrial archaeology that narrates the area’s mining history, followed by a crossing of the bay of Agua Amarga with its charming white houses.
Beyond the urban area, the scenery becomes more untamed. The route passes through Cala del Sol, which is nearly inaccessible by land, until reaching Cala de Enmedio, where white fossil sand dunes contrast beautifully with the green Ocean Posidonia, which enriches the sea with oxygen and keeps its waters crystal clear.
The journey concludes at Cala del Plomo, a peaceful retreat with turquoise waters, before returning to the port. Along the way, stories of pirates, geology, and filming will be shared, with opportunities to dive into the water and experience the park from within.
