Start at the top and walk down - I would get there first thing in the morning. It was nice to not be surrounded by tourist as you went through the area. Also, they have good bathroom facilities for free on the property. There are basically seven different temples there or that you can see from there.

A must see - The Valley of the Temples is not actually a valley. The site is located on a ridge below the modern town of Agrigento. It has some of the most impressive examples of ancient Greek architecture and must be one of the best archaeological sites in Europe. It is a must see for anyone having the slightest interest in history.

Visit her and then tell me - I had the opportunity to visit, a few years before, the Parthenon of Athens and I thought I had seen the maximum. After visiting the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento I have to make a reflection. The Parthenon is fascinating, certainly, but the Valley of the Temples is more extensive, there is vegetation, convenient to turn, in short it has a more welcoming and engaging atmosphere. For me a step above the Parthenon of Athens. Visit her and then tell me.

Learn about the history of the island here. - Great place to learn about the history of Sicily. Get a good guide and have them explain how the island has changed over the last 3000 years. This place is the perfect setting to learn it all and experience it.

A good trip - Visited as part of a tour group with a local guide .
A brilliant trip , lots to see & learn about . We had an audio set , so our guide walked & talked , keeping us in the shade as much as possible.
She was interesting, informative, easy to understand & good to listen to
The site has had some restoration but it has been well done .
A good time & well worth the visit .

If you are visiting Sicily, the Valley of the Temples is manditory. - The Valley of the temples is possibly the most important vestige of ancient classical culture in Sicily. It is comprised of temples to the gods, as well as a necropolis and other sanctuaries. The Temple of the Dioscuri (Castor & Pollux) with only four columns is the symbol of Agrigento. The Temple of Zeus was built to give thanks for the City's victory of the Carthaginians. Concordia is the best-preserved sacred building. A Statue of Icarus donated by Polish sculptor Igor Mitoraj lies outside. Hercules Temple, the oldest, was destroyed in an earthquake and only 8 or 38 columns remain. The Temple of Juno houses the goddess of fertility. There are many more temples, too numerous to mention, located in this valley. This UNESCO Heritage site is a "MUST VISIT."

MUST see preserved history in person! - Incredibly impressive. The history and stories behind the temple remains is incredible. We hired a tour guide who provided incredible stories, answered questions, and showed us many depictions of the technique and tools used to build these structures. She showed us aqueducts and quarries across town that were visible from the national park. The guide was so well worth it. Temple Concordia was breathtaking!

Valley of the Temples - Our hotel arranged an English speaking guide for this visit, Sergio really knew his stuff and was very informative and enthusiastic. Worth having a guide. Lots to look at, in March quite quiet too. We added the gardens as well, also very peaceful.

Bring dog food - I agree with all the reviews, it’s an amazing site, although perhaps a tourist gouge at a $17 Euro entry fee.
And this is not to seem ignorant—my area of study in University was Ancient Greek and Roman history/mythology/religion. But I could not look past all the stray dogs and puppies on the site. If you go, stop by the grocery store and bring some dog food with you. I would have if I’d known. It breaks my heart that stray animals are not cared for here.
