A breathtaking sail into the past! - The unique history of this former leper colony is astounding. The boat ride to the island provides endless photo ops as you sail past the seaside town of Agios Nikolaos . There is a nominal fee to visit the site once you arrive, however the cost is very much worth it. Jumping into the clear blue waters on the way back to port and enjoying the prepared BBQ on the trip is an unforgettable experience. Remember to bring a hat and sunscreen when visiting during summer season...it can get very intense under the Greek sun.

Brilliant way to spend a day in Crete - We wanted to do a boat trip and cruise along the coast for a few hours. So glad we did this. The boat stopped in a bay for an hour and we snorkelled the whole time. There was a bar aboard and they sold Souvlaki and hotdogs. They played some great tunes too. It was a real party atmosphere. People of all ages and nationalities. We circled Spinalonga and finally stopped again for more water frolics, jumping in and out of the sea. This was easily the best tour and the best fun in Crete and the best value!

A trip into history - A fantastic day, the Island was the last lepre colony in Europe. The buildings are still erect giving a feeling of what it must have been like to live there. The Crete coastline is just across the turquoise waters. The boat was fine ( although the PA was difficult to understand) and the staff were friendly. The swimming stop and BBQ were great. We all enjoyed the day.

Boat trip in June 24 - Well organised easy to find the boat, plenty of seating, mixed nationalities. Given a very good guide before boarding boat. Bbq was good but if you don't like pork or can't eat it mention with the ticket man or crew members. Vegetarian is available. Drinks really cheap and good choice. Spinalonga interesting but very hot take a hat and water, but buy from the boat 70 cents cafe on island everything 5 euros!! For tiny bottles. Swim lovely after walking around enjoyed the day

Overcrowded and uncomfortable - Hmm. What a disappointment this was. We were promised a gentle boat trip along the sheltered cove, with stop offs for a guided tour around Spinalonga leper colony and for a swim and barbecue. This was not entirely what we experienced today. We were picked up on a modern and clean air conditioned bus, which had been booked to capacity. We had a lovely guide who was knowledgeable, friendly and spoke amazing English. So far not so bad. We were then dropped at Agios Nikolaeus and boarded our boat. It took forever for all the passengers to board- as there was one single entry point for about 400 passengers to board. It was a very hot day and half of the seating was indoors in a very stuffy bar area. The top deck was extremely crowded, but there was room enough for everyone. This is when things got a bit hairy. The sea was extremely choppy and the hour crossing to Spinalonga was very tough. Everyone began the trip smiling and enjoying the views but within half an hour many faces had turned green as we were tossed and swayed through very agitated sea. By the time we reached the island two members of our party were feeling extremely ill. We chose to have a drink in the waterside cafe to recover, then half our party went for a swim and other half took a tour of the colony. Both options were great. We then got back on the boat and headed for our next stop - beach and bbq. The beach in question was tiny and crowded. There was no room to leave our bags other then against a wall - crossing fingers that our belongings would not disappear. The sea was lovely and refreshing. The beach was sandy, though the path down to the beach was very rocky and would be unsuitable for the elderly or anyone unstable on their feet. The waves were high due to the windy conditions but the beach felt very safe with few rocks. By this point we were really hungry and headed back to the boat to be served lunch. Lunch involved queuing interminably, partially next to the large bins used to throw away the leftovers from those earlier in the queue. We were then served bbq chicken with a cabbage salad, feta cheese and bread, with either orange squash or warm white wine, and an apple, on a plastic tray. Navigating the narrow stairs with said lunch was quite challenging, and then trying to find a seat, and eat lunch on our knees with all out beach gear around us was near impossible and generally a very unpleasant experience. We then set off back for Agios Nikolaeus for another nauseating journey back. On paper this sounds like an interesting and varied day out. In reality it felt like herding cattle. We queued for hours, ate a pretty poor lunch, and spent the whole day in hot, uncomfortable and over crowded conditions. It was not really what we were sold and we ended the day wishing we had spent another lovely day by the pool! Not really worth the 50€.

Disappointing - 1/2 hour late leaving the port so left short of time for other activities . Overcrowded boat . Not formed about the rocky terrain getting to the beach drop off . BBQ food poor. Would not recommend this trip

Peggior tour mai fatto!!!! - Outing absolutely bad and not recommended! Of the entire duration of the tour you spend most of the time on the boat, time to see the island of spinalonga and time on the beach is one hour for each activity. Really terrible and indecent food, meat completely burned and kept in questionable hygienic conditions (it was placed on the barbecue directly from large plastic basins resting on the ground nearby). Not to mention the pollution caused to the beach with this barbecue made near it. Going back I would not do it again, Crete is beautiful and there are so many amazing activities and beaches to visit. Time and money wasted! Do not book. Hotels often try to sell it but absolutely NO WITH NOSOS CRUISES! Terribili!

Don't bother. - Don't bother! Everywhere else in Crete the people were amazingly friendly. The crew here simply couldn't be bothered. It was supposed to be guided. There were a few announcements in Greek, German and Russian but very little in English. They said the boat wold go round the island - it didn't. The BBQ beach was pathetic with not enough space for everyone and the BBQ itself was at best adequate (vegetarian option pathetic). Spinalonga is fantastic. However, the entry fee is not included so you have to queue when you get there with everyone else from the boat and the other boats wasting a significant amount of time. We would recommend simply taking the local boat from Plaka or Elounda and saving yourself the extra money.
