Adelaide to Flinders Ranges

Port Wakefield - Begin an exciting eight-day outback journey in Adelaide at 5.30 am, where the Storyteller Guide will warmly welcome you. After a coffee break in the coastal town of Port Wakefield, enjoy breathtaking views at Hancock’s Lookout.

Quorn - A short drive further leads to the outback town of Quorn. Stretch your legs and admire the renowned Pichi Richi Railway and distinctive silo art.

Arkaroo Rock - Following a lunch stop in Hawker, arrive at Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park for a rewarding hike at Arkaroo Rock, an important cultural site for the Adnyamathanha people.

Skytrek Willow Springs Station - This afternoon, reach Skytrek Willow Springs Station, a 70,000-acre working sheep station offering secluded bush camping, serving as our base to explore the Flinders Ranges. After a delicious dinner prepared by your Guide, relax and enjoy a spectacular light show. The Flinders Ranges is renowned for its clear skies, making it an ideal spot for an optional stargazing experience with an expert astronomer and physicist. Take a short drive from camp and, using a 10-inch reflecting telescope, observe constellations, globular clusters, nebulae, and the planets Saturn and Jupiter. Experiences range from $90 to $190 per person and can be arranged with your Guide on the day.

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

Skytrek Willow Springs Station - With a deeper understanding of Aboriginal culture, spend the afternoon exploring more of the ancient Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. Enjoy the stunning outback views on the Buneryoo Scenic Drive. At Brachina Gorge, there might be a chance to spot rare yellow-footed rock wallabies. After bushwalking and connecting with nature, relax around the campfire with dinner and stories with new friends.

Flinders Ranges to William Creek via the Oodnadatta Track

William Creek - By late afternoon, arrive in the small outback settlement of William Creek. Situated in the middle of nowhere, this quirky town with a population of ten is a South Australian Outback icon. After dinner, enjoy a cold drink at the heritage-listed William Creek Hotel, established in 1887. Then, settle in your swag under the stars at the campground.

William Creek to Coober Pedy

Coober Pedy - The rest of the day is free for exploration, with plenty to discover. Spend the night in a unique underground bunkhouse and have dinner at one of the many underground eateries.

Coober Pedy to Watarrka/Kings Canyon

Erldunda - Lunch stop

Kings Canyon - Crossing into the Northern Territory, continue to Watarrka National Park, home to Kings Canyon. Arrive at Kings Creek Station by late afternoon. Relax, enjoy the tranquility, and, on warmer days, take a swim in the pool. Capture a stunning desert sunset from the viewing platform before dining at the Station restaurant and settling in for the night.

Watarrka/Kings Canyon to Uluru

Kings Canyon - Start early for the mesmerizing Kings Canyon Rim Walk, a truly magical experience. With its 300-metre-high sandstone walls, hidden waterholes, fern forests, chasms, canyons, and caverns, Watarrka National Park is central Australia’s oasis. Enjoy 360-degree views and explore Priscilla’s Crack, made famous by the classic Australian film Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Discover the sandstone domes known as the Lost City and the lush Garden of Eden.

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - After lunch, relax on the drive to the final destination, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Witness an unforgettable sunset over Uluru before returning to camp for dinner.

Ayers Rock Campground - After dinner, roll out your swag on the red Earth under a sky full of stars.

Uluru

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - An early start rewards with a captivating Kata Tjuta sunrise. Meaning ‘Many Heads’ in Pitjantjatjara, the 36 domes of Kata Tjuta are a defining feature of the Red Centre landscape, both topographically and spiritually. Rising 546 metres above the surrounding plain, its peak is the highest point for miles, with ridges and ravines closely linked to numerous Indigenous creation stories. While many stories remain secret, you’ll learn about the local Anangu culture and appreciate the land’s beauty on a rewarding hike on the Valley of the Winds Walk.

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - This afternoon, enjoy a fun and inspiring dot painting workshop with a talented local Anangu artist and interpreter. During this 1.5-hour authentic experience, learn about ancient symbols used in Anangu art and teachings, and be introduced to some Pitjantjatjara words (the local language spoken by Anangu). Use this knowledge to create your own artwork to take home and cherish.

Ayers Rock Campground - Afterwards, visit the Cultural Centre to deepen your understanding of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Learn about Anangu culture and the park’s natural environment through exhibits and free presentations with Anangu and park rangers.

Yulara

Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park - Rise early to experience the serenity of a sunrise over Uluru. As sunlight dances across the landscape, the rock formations change color before your eyes. Next, get up close to this natural wonder. Standing 348 metres high and approximately 550 million years old, feel its powerful presence. A guided 10km Uluru base walk offers the best opportunity to connect with Uluru and learn its stories. Relax by tranquil waterholes, rest under a magnificent Sheoak tree, and explore hidden caves. Shorter walks are available for those preferring not to complete the entire base walk.
The outback adventure concludes in the late morning upon returning to the Desert Gardens Resort in Yulara. Complimentary transfers are available for those departing from Uluru Airport.
