Jinka - Turmi

Jinka - Upon arrival at Jinka airport, Minalu will greet you and drive 130km to Turmi town. Along the journey, you will have the opportunity to explore a tribal market such as Keyafer market (on Thursday), Alduba Market (on Tuesday), Dimeka market (on Saturday), or Turmi market (on Monday). If it is not a market day, a visit to a Banna tribe village will be arranged.

Key Afer - On Thursdays, you can explore a Banna tribal market in Key Afer.

Alduba - On Tuesdays, visit the Alduba market, where the Banna tribe engages in buying and selling livestock and agricultural goods.

Dimeka Town - On Saturdays, you can visit the Hamar tribe market in Dimeka.

Turmi - A visit to a Hamer village is planned for this day or the following day, depending on the availability of interesting ceremonial events. You will spend the next two days in Turmi, exploring the Omo Valley in Ethiopia.

Turmi - Kara - Turmi

Omo National Park and River - Travel 65km west of Turmi to meet the Kara (Karo) tribe, renowned for their body and facial paintings. They reside in a picturesque village along the Omo River. You will meet the Kara people and visit a family who will host a traditional coffee ceremony in their home. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the family and form a genuine connection with the community.

Turmi - Visit the Turmi market of the Hamar tribe on Monday and Thursday.

Turmi - Omo Rate - Jinka

Omorate - Travel from Turmi to Omorate for an hour to visit the Dassanech tribe across the river by crossing the Omo River in a dugout canoe, then return to Turmi for lunch. In the afternoon, you will explore a Tribal Market (or attend a ceremonial event if available/not included in the cost).

Turmi - Attend the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony (optional) if available.

Jinka - Explore the Jinka Ethnography museum.

South Omo Research Centre Museum - Visit the Jinka museum.

Jinka - Mursi - Konso

Mursi Village - Travel approximately 50km through Mago National Park to meet the renowned Mursi tribe. The Mursi are famous for women wearing lip plates and practicing extensive body scarification. Return to Jinka for lunch before continuing the 140km drive on an asphalt road to Konso.

Mago National Park - Journey through Mago National Park to reach the Mursi tribe village.

Konso - Drive 160 km from Jinka to Konso to visit the Konso people and their village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will also visit the Konso museum and the chief’s compound, featuring an ancestral graveyard marked with Waka.

Konso Cultural Centre - Explore the Konso museum.

Konso - Arba Minch

Arba Minch - Travel from Konso to Arba Minch in 2 hours. After lunch in Arba Minch, continue to Dorze village, a 1-hour drive, to experience the remarkable Dorze community.

Dorze Village - Visit the Dorze community by exploring the village. Discover the unique elephant-shaped houses, weaving, and the traditional Kocho preparation from the false banana plant known as Ensset.

Arba Minch - Lake Chamo - Fly to Addis Ababa

Chamo Lake - After breakfast, head to Lake Chamo for a brief boat trip to observe the crocodiles and hippos on the lake, then return to Arba Minch. After an early lunch, you will be transported to the airport for your flight back to Addis. This tour concludes at Arba Minch Airport.

Chamo Lake - Enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo.
