W.E.B. DuBois Center - Visit the DuBois Center to explore the legacy of William Edward Burghardt Du Bois. W.E.B. DuBois was an American sociologist, socialist, historian, and Pan-Africanist, as well as a civil rights activist. He was invited by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to edit a book and later passed away and was buried in Accra, Ghana. He was a prominent advocate for the liberation of black people in America and beyond.

National Museum of Ghana - Located in Accra, the National Museum of Ghana is the largest and oldest of the six museums managed by the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. It was inaugurated on March 5, 1957, as part of Ghana’s independence celebrations. The museum was established to highlight Ghanaian culture and African heritage.

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park - Explore the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, where the first Ghanaian President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, is laid to rest. The park is rich with the history and achievements of Kwame Nkrumah as a Pan-Africanist.

Assin Manso and Cape Castle Tour

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park - Visit the Assin Manso Slave River site, where slaves took their last bath on African soil before being marched to the slave castles. They were cleaned and fed to appear healthy and fetch higher prices. Branding irons were used to mark captives for identification and duty payment. It is now a sacred place of remembrance, housing the remains of the first two diasporas (Lady Crystal from Jamaica and Samuel Carson from New York) brought to Ghana through the “door of return” and reburied. The site also holds the remains of African slave descendants from Barbados, symbolizing emancipation and reconnection.

Cape Coast Castle - Cape Coast Castle was one of the slave castles built on Ghana’s shores and served as the British administrative center in West Africa. Participants will explore the museum and dungeons where slaves were held before being shipped to the New World.

Elmina Castle - At Elmina Castle, participants will witness the oldest European building (constructed in 1482) in Sub-Saharan Africa and learn about the grim realities of the slave trade.

Kakum National Park and Transfer to Western Region

Kakum National Park - Participants will enjoy a hike through the rainforest and experience the Canopy Walkway.

Nzulezo Stilt Village

This tour provides tourists with insights into Nzulezo, explaining the reasons behind the village’s construction on stilts over water. Additionally, it offers an exploration of the Assin Manso Slave River, where West African slaves took their final bath before being transported to the Cape Coast and Elmina castles, known as Slave Dungeons, and delves into the history of slavery. The tour also includes a visit to the Kakum Canopy Walkway, which is suspended 40 meters above sea level.
