Highlights
  • Aberdeen beach - Aberdeen is “The Silver City by the Golden Sands”, as the old tourist brochures used to say. We’re fortunate to have a stunning and lively beach and leisure area just a short distance from the city center. We’ll begin our day with a visit to the village of Fittie, built in the early 1800s as a fishing community, to explore Aberdeen’s maritime heritage and one of its iconic past industries. With a long sandy beach and access to the beach promenade, it’s an ideal spot for watching ships enter the harbor, spotting dolphins and seabirds, and enjoying the fresh North Sea air.

  • Glen Garioch Distillery - Scotland is synonymous with whisky! Glen Garioch is one of the region’s most historic distilleries. A visit to Glen Garioch Distillery offers the chance to learn about the art of creating the perfect single malt whisky. Glen Garioch is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that malts its own barley, a fascinating process that helps create a unique flavor profile for this Highland single malt. After touring the distillery and seeing how they handcraft the spirit, and inhaling the beautiful fragrances in the warehouses, you can join a guided tasting of three of their whiskies.

  • East Aquhorthies Stone Circle - One of Aberdeen’s largest stone circles is on our route, providing a perfect opportunity to learn about some of Scotland’s ancient history. East Aquhorthies Stone Circle is a recumbent stone circle—a type found only in northeast Scotland. It features a large stone set on its side, flanked by two upright stones, usually on the south or southwest part of the circle. These structures remain somewhat mysterious, and we don’t know exactly why they were built or why so many are found in northeast Scotland. You’ll discover several theories during this visit.

  • Castle Fraser Garden & Estate - Aberdeenshire boasts more castles per acre than anywhere else in Scotland! Castle Fraser is one of our favorites. We’ll explore the wonderful grounds with their grand trees and the walled garden, which is a mix of vegetables, herbs, and ornamental plants and flowers. The castle offers a unique experience as you wind your way up and down the spiral staircases, exploring different rooms that tell the stories of the Fraser family, who inhabited the castle for hundreds of years, and later the Smiley family. The Frasers of Castle Fraser include some interesting characters, and you’ll hear stories from various family members as you tour the building.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND ... - HIGHLY RECOMMEND We took the Taste of Scotland and the Highlands and Inverness tours with Jamie. Both tours were great. Jamie was a wonderful guide. He did absolutely everything in his power to make sure that we had the best experience. He responded to all of our special requests and made additional stops to show us things not listed in the itinerary. Snacks and drinks he provided were a nice touch. He also gave us some recommendations for dinner and dolphin viewing in Aberdeen that all turned out so great! We would love to take additional tours with this company. THANK YOU, JAMIE!

Amazing Taste of Scotland Experience with Jamie - We had an incredible day with our knowledgeable and fun guide Jamie. We started off in the charming small village of Fittie and visited Glen Garlioch Distillery, an ancient stone circle and Castle Fraser. All along the way Jamie had Sottish treats and beverages for us to sample. There was plenty of time to enjoy each stop and not too much time driving. Overall, it was a wonderful way to spend a brilliant sunny day exploring the area near Aberdeen. Highly recommend.

Very enjoyable day in the countryside around Aberdeen - Fraser castle and whisky distillery which were amazing. We also visited the lovely fishing village of Stonehaven but sadly only had an hour there.

Best way to see Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire! - We ha the best day on this tour! Jamie with Grampian Escapes and Tours was a wonderful guide! He took us all around Aberdeenshire and we learned a ton about the city as well as the shire, the estates, and the people and history. We truly felt like we got a very immersive and expansive tour and we learned SO much! The food part added that little something extra and really connected you to learn more about the people. This tour is an absolute must if you are interested in Aberdeen (which you should be!) It was lovely to get out of the city and see more of the area.

Yes! Want to do all 6 tours now. - Second tour 2 days in a row. Different guide and both were A+ and different experiences. I wish I could stay and do the remaining 4 tours. The authentic drinking place you go on this tour is a distillery, the rest of the food is local food packed in a picnic basket that is shared at the various stops like a castle and stone circle.
