Dunnottar Castle! A bucket item…!😀 - Chris and I truly enjoyed our tour with Alex to Dunnottar, the coastal villages of Gourdon and Stonehaven and…a fun educational visit to a historic mill (The Mill of Benholm). Lunch at a pub in Stonehaven and a stroll around the harbor with an ice cream was perfect. Alex was attentive and engaging with talks of the various locations, the region, it’s culture and history. We intentionally wanted a small group tour, the 7 passenger van was perfect and we enjoyed our other tour attendees from Canada. Intimate, easy going, fun. Sincere thanks! Chris and Gary

Was very happy that the... - Was very happy that the tour still went ahead with just one person. Alex was the guide for the day and he has a wealth of knowledge about pretty much everything, especially history! Dunnottar was magnificent and truly the highlight. The coastal fishing villages were a bit quiet but interesting nonetheless. Highly recommend.

Small group tour, great day out - The castle is located on the cliff and there was a fair bit of steps to negiotiate. There were cobble stones lined footpath which can be slippery in wet. Definitely not for those with restricted mobility. This was a small group tour with only four of us. It was personalised and our guide Jamie was great.Good sense of humour and knowledgeable about the sites we visited.

Overall very good experience - This was the tour company that was hired by a conference I was attending. The tours were well planned and the vans and busses were well maintained. One day I was with a smaller group and two tours were on a larger bus. On the small group day we had Alec, who was personable, funny, and so knowledgeable. He earns a 5 star review! One of the days of the large tour there were some stops that seemed quite rushed despite being told that we would have some time to look around on our own. But otherwise there were no issues. The other large group day we had a guide with us, but they admitted they were just a chaperone, so they told us where we were going and gave us some ideas of what to see, but otherwise they were not a guide. Entrance fees were not included this day. This may have been what was prearranged, but the tour was not advertised as being unguided. Grampian was responsive to emails and even shifted the starting location based on where we were mainly staying.

A Disappointing Expérience! - I never write reviews that are negative but this experience was appalling . We are well traveled we came to Scotland for a conference. Jacqueline (Grampian Tours) was hired by conference to lead several tours for the participants. First day- coastal villages- my husband and myself and one other person. We were taken to first village where we met a local artist who offered to sketch something for us- a treat! She did it suickly- not quickly enough! Jacqueline became quite anger at the delay- 15 minutes at most. The other guess, when asked, was not disturbed. We missed a castle which the three of us didnt mind. Jacqueline was more interested in her planned itinerary than being sure we were enjoying the experience. We stopped for lunch my husband wanted dessert. Jacqueline anniunced there was no time. And certainly no thought that she might be with us a bit later for thé saké of the day. Next day, Edinborough by train. She secured tickets we hired our own guide. We had a lovely and informés day on our own. This, despite having been told many Times how tired we would be and treacherous the cobblestones were. No optimism or joy about the trip. In the end, we got back to Aberdeen around 10:30– train had problems. No cabs at station. Members in group in thirties- We are over 65- in good shape- but older. We asked Jacqueline if she would help us get à cab. She responded abruptly , « No! You are on your own! ». There was no interest ir concern- ttip over. She went home group strigiles at station for the few cabs still at work to come. Day 3- Qlex took us. Again, We are older. Alex took off. He had no concern that he keep his group together at one point we had trouble finding him. The last day with Jaimie was the best he was warm, person able, and clear. He announced when he dropped us at st Andrews that we would not be guides but on our own. - that conference people had wanted the least expensive experience they could buy. Nevertheless, Jaimie gave us maps he made, many suggestions, and directions. Maybe he should have his own agency. There was no evidence that Jacqueline was interested in our well-being or comfort or safety despite the fees she did or did not collect. Jacqueline does not have the credentials of guides who have earned their blue badge, I believe the designation to be. I advise not using this group- hire people with blue badge credentials who enjoy what they do and want to make your experience in Scotland memorable
