Numerous species of birds that sleep, as well as owls, nocturnal mammals like raccoons, nocturnal rodents, numerous species of insects, reptiles such as snakes, toads, and frogs., etc. A very interactive tour as we provide flashlights to illuminate the way and participate in finding.
The trails are wide and marked in uncomplicated terrain for walking with the group and the assigned guide.

Ser above - We had a night tour which included 2.5 hrs walk in the forest with our guide Donald. It was very well organised.
Donald is very competent and have great knowledged in the nature and its animals and has worked in this area for 20 years. He gave us a really excited evening!!! We saw serveral different tarantellas, grashoppers, 2 venomous snakes, serveras sleeping birds etc. We also got good coffee! Nerver hasitate to book this tour!

Cool night hike! - We (2 families) had an amazing sunset and night hike with Donald. He showed us many different animals and he had a lot of knowledge about the area. I can really recommend this tour with him.

Night tour with Wisconsin couple - The sunset tour at Woodpecker Educational Tours was more than looking for animals. Donald taught us history along with ecology of Costa Rica. His passion for wildlife and area is amazing. A lot of our sightings were rare and he was able to get phenomenal pictures. This is not a commercialized busy-the goal of this family is preservation and education. Marita brought us coffee/snack as we started our adventure with a priceless view. 100% recommended

AMAZING Night Walk with Donald…. A must do when in Monteverde! - This was an amazing night walk with guide Donald Torres. We saw so many animals, insects and night life despite the rain. Donald was able to spot things that I never would have seen. His excitement and overall knowledge was the best I’ve seen. The owner of Woodpecker Educational Tours was so nice and accommodating and we really enjoyed learning the history of the property from her. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing Night Tour with Donald 100% Recommend!!! - We had the most amazing night tour with Donald. He showed us so many birds, animals and wild life of the night. He was extremely knowledgeable and taught us so much about the area, the habitat and life here. He always made sure that we had great pictures of everything we saw. Dena was very sweet and shared the history of her family’s reserve with us over coffee, tea and cookies. I would 100% recommend this tour and will definitely reach out to Donald next time we are in Costa Rica.

The best night walk in Monteverde - An amazing night walk experience fit for a passionate wildlife enthusiast like myself. This tour had everything. An experienced guide named Donald Torres who help me identify around bird species like the common paraque, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects, spiders all in 3 hours. During the tour we were served coffee and cookies as a complementary gift. This property is unique due to its large size. It has one of the best lookout points in all of Monteverde. The open spaces are perfect for spotting predators like owls. The highlight of the trip was seeing a salamandar up close! It was clear everything was natural. No evidence of the owners feeding the wildlife like in other fake night walks. Loved the experience and will bring my family back!

Super nice! - We did a sunset night tour in the woodpecker park with guide Donald torres.
It was fantastic!
We did not see the sunset, because it was cloudy and a bit rainy but it did not matter at all! We enjoyed a cup of tea and of we went. Donald pointed out a lot of super nice things!
Like 2 types of tarentula, endamic frog and even a toucan and a green viper.
Donald has a lot of knolledge and we also did a day tour with him in the cloud forrest the day after. Super interesting.
Donald even answerd our questions about other creatures we found on other walks after the tours!

Great unique night hike experience with Donald - Donald was an excellent and knowledgeable guide for our night hike, guiding us through this amazing privately-owned property. We started by meeting the kind family that the owns the property, enjoying sunset views, tea and cookies. Donald made sure we saw many unique and special animals that we likely would not have seen other places, including two green vipers, a boa constrictor, red eyed stream frog, scorpions, a salamander, and a pauraque (bird). Highly recommend to see some unusual and interesting animals in Monteverde!

If you are going to Monteverde, you shouldn't miss out! - An incredible experience from the beginning of the tour, where we managed to see the entire Gulf of Nicoya, from one of the viewpoints. We were fortunate to have an excellent climate. Donald, Dinia, Marita and their family make every moment treasured and lead us to commit to the importance of ecosystems and caring for the environment.
This was a night hike through the @woodpecker_reserve reserve.
I invite you to visit this family venture of indigenous people from the Monteverde area when walking through the area.

Fun and informative night tour adventure - The Woodpecker night tour was a wonderful experience for our group of friends. We started with tea and cookies at an amazing viewpoint to watch the sunset, then headed off into the forest with our flashlights. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals we saw and the ecology of the area. We saw a snake, birds, frogs, scorpions, spiders, and a mouse possum. We learned a lot, had a lot of fun with our guide, and got some great pictures. I highly recommend!
