Camping Safari for Honeymoon exceeded all expectations!! - Daniel (our guide) and Gideon (our chef) gave us the experience of a lifetime on our 6 day / 8 night safari. We covered Tarangire, Western Serengeti (to see the great migration), central Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. I was hesitant about booking a safari as there are so many to choose from, it’s such a big trip (especially as this was part of our Honeymoon), and it’s big investment - so you really want to make the right choice. So. I’ll tell you what we were looking for and how it completely blew us away as I’m sure many of you are trying to book your own Safari now! We wanted to do a budget safari (after paying for a wedding we were not looking for luxury haha). We’ve always felt / hoped that opting for budget accommodation won’t really change the actual experience you are after (in this case the actual Safari). Looking online so many people had said things like ‘the best guides are reserved for the people who book luxury packages etc’ and so we were really hoping this wouldn’t be the case. As soon as we started we could tell we had the best of the best and that this would be the case regardless of the package we booked. We could tell instantly that our experience was going to be everything we could hope for on Safari. Daniel, our guide, has 20 years of experience and you can really tell his knowledge of the parks is top tier. He knew how to spot everything!! We were seeing incredible animal after incredible animal and Daniel knew exactly where to park up to snap the best picture, when to wait and watch an animal (it’s like he could sense when there would be some action), and when to follow a moving animal or heard. He was constantly scanning the plains (for literally hours at a time as we drove) searching for game and we honestly felt like we saw every possible wildlife interaction that we could on our route. The game drives were brilliant - we were out from dawn until dusk most days - we just couldn’t believe how packed our trip was. It was 6 days of just brilliant Safari from the great migration to chasing big cats, to doing a hot air balloon and landing beside a heard of running Zebras! The food was a totally unexpected win on our trip too! We had no expectations at all for food but Gideon gave us a full, delicious spread for breakfast, lunch and dinner! No matter how early we were up (some days starting at 5:30am) he had a hot meal ready for us and always greeted us with a smile. It was some of the best food we’ve had on our honeymoon, full of flavour and always sooo much to eat there’d be no chance of being hungry. For lunch we ate at picnic stops but one very special day we ate under a tree surrounded by the zebras and the wildabest in their great migration. It was so so so amazing. In terms of camping, I was terrified I’d run into a lion - haha! But the camping was actually great. Super comfortable with really nice pillows!! Bring along a silk sleeping bag liner and pillow case and you’ll be comfy as can be - and a torch for going to the wash room after dark. Needless to say, I didn’t run into any lions on the camp site and I didn’t even heard the animals at night because I was so sound asleep after all the excitement. Meru Slopes has to be one of the best Safari companies out there - don’t hesitate to book - I just reached out over WhatsApp (very last minute!!! And it was all booked within 2 days - amazing!) - it was a 5 star experience and one we will never forget. Thanks so so much to Daniel and Gideon for our trip of a life time and to the whole Meru Slopes team for making this happen. :) Recommendations; We thought 6 days on Safari was the perfect amount of time - the 3 parks are so different and the wildlife experience changes with each. I think it would have felt too quick only doing 3/4 days. If you want to see the migration check the timings before you book - eg. We travelled in June and initially had booked to go to Massi Mara in Kenya but the migration was still in the Serengti at that time. For camping bring a torch, silk sleeping bag liner, mosquito net, and pillow cases. Bring polarised sunglasses that you can ruin as there is so much dust it shaves off the coating of the glasses as you drive and look out the roof. As a couple we opted for a private tour (just the two of us in our Safari 4x4). It was perfect as you have free rein on moving around and looking 360 out the roof when trying to get pics of the animals. We saw solo travellers on a group tour and it looked like such fun too if that’s your situation. There are chargers in the Safari car so you can charge phones and camera batteries on the go (this is a god send when you’re taking so many pics and videos). There’s a fridge in the Safari vehicle to keep water (they supply loooads of water) and chocolate etc from melting. There’s a good few wash rooms as you travel but our guide also let us know when we were in a safe place to jump out and do our business behind the van. It’s necessary a lot of times and again, we did not get eaten by any lions haha! Aisling

Honeymoon of a lifetime in the Serengeti! - Meru Slopes made sure that my wife and I had the honeymoon of a lifetime. Jeffrey and Jerome were super easy to work with when booking, even though we were very last minute, they accommodated our every request and respected our budget. This set us up really positively for the trip and when we met Daniel our guide and Gideon our chef they were in great spirits from the start and got us so excited to begin our safari. Our first day was amazing, we went through Tarangire National Park, right from the start we could tell we had a brilliant guide in Daniel, he was so knowledgeable about the park and animals, we saw so much wildlife and had the most amazing experience with a herd of elephants right by the 4x4 followed by a huge herd of zebras crossing our path. When we arrived at the site for our first night we also found the food to be excellent! Our next few days were spent in the Serengeti, we went and found the great migration on the first day, an unbelievable experience. We chased the big cats on the second - I would say we were lucky to see a leopard on this day but that would not give Daniel enough credit - he spent the whole day on the lookout for us to spot a cheetah or leapard which we knew would be a rare sighting, his rapport with the other guides was clear and all this meant that once one was spotted we were one of the first to know and get there! The final day in the Serengeti we had a hot air balloon ride and then a final game drive. I feel we saw as much as possible from the migration, to lots of up close and personal encounters with lions, elephants, giraffes and hippos. On our final day of the safari we went into the crater in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where we caught a glimpse of a rhino completing our spotting of the big 5, on top of that we saw lions feeding on a zebra and again so much amazing wildlife. I hope with the enthusiasm I'm describing our trip with it's clear that Daniel ensured we had the safari of a lifetime! Each evening we were greeted with a warm smile and some fantastic food by Gideon as well, the lunches we had on safari were always top notch too! We really feel we could not have been luckier with our guide and chef and with choosing Meru Slopes for our safari!

Safari trip of a lifetime! - Meru Slopes provided us with the safari experience of a life time. All of the logistics were seamless and we did not have to think of anything once on safari, everything was taken care of. The game drives were amazing and we saw so many animals, all in their natural habitats. It is thanks to our knowledgeable guide and driver, Andrew, that we saw so much. Andrew was always full of good humour (even at 6am!) and was always happy to answer our many questions about the animals and the local area. Andrew also took on a special request and found the most perfect place for our engagement! What a legend! Also, a special mention to our chef, Rashidi. We ate hot cooked meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner, even when on game drives. There was great variety and the food was plentiful and tasty! All in all an amazing trip and one we will never forget, thanks to Andrew, Rashidi and Meru Slopes.

Amazing week in Northern Tanzania! - Our 6 day Safari adventure with Meru Slopes was brilliantly organised from start to finish by Almachius. Everything was provided as advertised and represented tremendous value for money. Our guide/driver Douglas was fantastic and really friendly. The kind of guy you could spend hours with, discussing his animal knowledge and stories. Rasheed our chef was a brilliant cook and it was a highlight of each day to see what he had whipped up for dinner. Always too much! The included local wine each evening was also an unexpected touch. Our week was made even better by the fact Meru had placed us with a fantastic group of likeminded travellers whom we really enjoyed the company of. We will be recommending Meru slopes to future safari goers and using them when we return for Kilimanjaro! Don’t hesitate to book your trip with them.

Unforgettable experience - We contacted Meru Slopes from Italy for a 6 day private safari and Geoffrey was immediately very helpful, answering all our questions and meeting our needs. The tour was organized as follows: 0. Arrival and overnight in Arusha 1. Tarangire and overnight stay in the lodge 2. Central Serengeti and overnight stay at one of the central Serengeti campsites 3. Northern Serengeti to see the great migration and overnight at the same campsite as the previous evening 4. Central Serengeti and journey to Ngorongoro with overnight stay at a campsite on top of the crater (bring warm clothes because it is really cold) 5. Ngorongoro and overnight stay in the lodge 6. Lake Manyara and return to Arusha with an overnight stay. Meru Slopes took care of all our travel and accommodation, from arrival to our departure: they are very well organised. The safari was fantastic, we managed to see lots of animals, including the great migration in the north of the Serengeti, although that day we had a lot of bad luck: in one day we punctured 3 tires. The roads are terrible and our jeep probably had some worn tires. Each jeep has two spare wheels for emergencies and in bad luck we were lucky: the third wheel blew out on the way back so we returned with another jeep with other people always with Meru Slopes. The situation was managed and we managed not to waste too much time. The food was excellent, both lunch and dinner meals were always well cooked. We recommend Meru Slopes to anyone who wants to take on this wonderful adventure!

Would recommend! - Incredible experience. I am very happy I choose Meru slopes. Professional and experienced company. Geofrey and his team made sure everything was well organised. From pick up from the airport till drop-off. If there is something Geofrey is helpful, accommodating and is making sure everything is going smooth. He is well reachable and easy to communicate with. Also our guide Jacob was incredibly skilled. He has a tremendous eye for spotting animals and he is driven and motivated to bring us to the best places to see the animals. One thing that is good to know: if you pay with card at the office there is an 3.5% extra charge. Would definitely recommend Meru Slopes

Amazing experience- good value for money - Had a great time on this group safari. Our guide Mohammed was super friendly, informative and was able to get us to see the animals at just the right moment- very grateful for that and he was respectful of the animals at all times. The food cooked by Johannes was also delicious and he was very accommodating of any dietary requirements! Thank you both.
