Salkantay Trek - unbeatable views, impeccable logistics, unforgettable trip! - We were lucky enough to travel with Tony as Guide, Edilberto as Cook, Abel as Kitchen Assistant and Nicanor as Farmer. The experience and good energy of the entire Sam Travel team made our trek unforgettable. Tony is an excellent Guide! He knows Top-rated photo spots, taught us about mountains and Inca culture and is also a great photographer:) his good energy and experience made us feel safe and happy every day. The food was excellent and hearty. Edilberto is a great chef and Abel a great kitchen assistant! They prepared delicious dishes every day and gave us a taste of traditional dishes from the region. Nicanor and his crutches made it possible to travel the road with the necessary things for the journey. We would travel with Sam Travel without thinking.

Great experience with an amazing unique and local staff. - The staff : Tony, Nicanor, Abel, and Edilberto were absolutely amazing. They food during the entire expedition was amazing thanks to Edilberto and Abel. Tony was our guide, we knew all the local people as well as all the local restaurants. We always felt very safe during the entire experience. They really made our trip experience 10/10. The tents were also ready for us every time we arrived to the camp, with water for us to wash our hands and face.

Epic family trip!!! - We chose the 4 day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu and had an epic trip! While the trekking in altitude was intense, our incredible guide, Gerry, led us with safety tips, encouragement and good information. The variety of terrain from glacier to jungle was jaw dropping. Gerry's knowledge of both trekking and his own Incan heritage were top notch. However, as our 18 year old daughter said, Gerry felt like an old friend. All five of us enjoyed his presence while hiking or around the dinner table. Fortunato, our chef created unbelievably delicious meals on the side of the Mountain! These were not only filling and gourmet, but they were also made with his knowledge of what food is good to combat altitude sickness. Fortunato is a magician in the kitchen! Nicanor, the sous chef was hard working, always smiling and helped to make the presentation of all dishes look like high end restaurant quality. The other Nicanor, our horseman, was also so hard working and friendly and always smiling! We would do this trip again in a heartbeat!

Salkantay and Short Inca Trail Trek - 5 Days - Our guide, Danny, and his entire team of cooks and horse wranglers made the Salkantay Trek portion of the trip fun and easy. We were sad to lose Danny for the final two days when Sam Travel switched to combining us with another group. The Short Inca Trail allows you to enter Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate which is great now that Machu Picchu now restricts you to one of several tour routes, most of which don’t get you to the best overview.

Fantastic experience on Salkantay - We loved our 5D/4N Salkantay trip with Sam Travel and our amazing guide Gerry. The whole operation was extremely slick and well planned. The food was great and plentiful (thanks to Ever and Vincente) and the support team worked really well together. Gerry was very knowlgeable and we enjoyed discussing things with him over the trek. I was particularly impressed with Sam Travel's whatsapp support which was always on hand to quickly answer any questions. It is possible to do the trek cheaper but, in our view, it is definitely worth paying a bit more to get a more personal experience. We felt we got much better value with Sam Travel than our friends doing cheaper tours.

4 day Salkantay trek - Had an incredible 4 days doing the salkantay trek and I couldn’t recommend it more! The landscape was breathtaking and changed drastically as the days went on from snowy peaks to the outskirts of the jungle. Our guide Auqui was so lovely and taught us so much about Peru and the Incas, with such passion and well rounded knowledge! We were so well looked after not only by Auqui, but also the the amazing food made by the chefs.

Incredible 4 day Salkantay Trek! - My friend and I had an amazing time doing the salkantay trek with Sam Travel! Our guide Auqui looked after us and was always encouraging, answering all our questions about Peruvian life and culture, both past and present! He was extremely knowledgeable, especially at Machu Picchu, and he made us feel so welcome in Peru. The tents were very spacious and with the mattress and sleeping bag, we were comfortable. Also, the food was absolutely incredible, some of the best we've had since being in Peru, as well as being hot and ready when we arrived at the checkpoints! Would definitely recommend the hotsprings at Cocalmayo on the 2nd day!

Overall great experience with Sam Travel - Overall great experience with Sam Travel. Before the trek they responded within few hours to answer any questions. The whole process was very smooth. The trek itself was amazing. Definitely recommend everyone. Food was great and the porters did a great job moving and setting up everything on time. It was like a moving lodge from one campsite to another. Our guide was great too

Wonderful, but challenging - Carlos and the team were amazing. He tailored the tour to our interests. The horseman and chefs were wonderful. The food was a buffet style traditional Peruvian food. The hiking was challenging, but well worth it. We combined the first two days of hiking so we would have the trails to ourselves. It was a wonderful experience. On the last day we had a 3 hour tour of Machu Picchu. It was plenty of time for photos. We didn’t fell rushed the entire trip. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend.
