Beautiful place - The ranch is beautiful and the ride was full of sights. Loved the horses and the guides were attentive but gave us space to enjoy ourselves.

Amazing riding experience in Costa Rica - We enjoyed every minute on the horse and took a 2 hours trip with our daughter. They cared so much and supported our daughter anytime.
The scene around the hacienda is superb.
The trails are nice to walk.
The horses were in a perfect shape and we had a feeling that the owner really cares about them.
If we return to Guanacaste, we will book the tour again for sure.

A wonderful start to our day! - We went on a family horse back riding tour with Popeye and Carlos. It was absolutely amazing. We felt safe, and they were very professional. The ride itself was peaceful and awesome views. The kids wanted to return the next day for another tour. Thank you!

Amazing horseback riding experience! - Booked this tour only a day before and got super great communication from the start on our pickup, what to wear, and where to meet. We had popeye and he was a GREAT tour guide for the horseback riding tour. We were able to see 2 different types of monkeys and even saw a baby monkey and its mom jumping through the tree branches. The cute doggos were also a plus!
Cannot recommend this tour more.

Epic riding with a responsible set up - Absolutely brilliant experience and well cared for happy horses which is so important. We had an epic ride which will be talked about for many years to come. Adrian was easy to communicate with and he answered all our questions. Great to meet some real cowboys too. Highly recommend everything about this experience from great varied landscape riding to amazing scenery on the way. Forests, streams and pasture - just wow!!!

We loved hacienda cenizaro - We absolutely loved horseback riding here. The scenery was beautiful. Our tour guide popeye was so nice and helpful. The property is very well kept and clean. Same thing with the horses. We saw a sloth on our ride. 10/10 recommend!

Loved this horseback riding tour - Great spot if you want a horseback riding tour while visiting this corner of Costa Rica.
It’s ideal for beginners and advanced riders alike: although I’m an intermediate dressage rider, my boyfriend is a complete beginner and we both felt equally safe and engaged during our ride. The horses are calm, docile, and sure footed for the hilly and rocky terrain. I took all these photos with my camera while the horse kept walking — perhaps some are a bit blurry but it shows well how easy going they are.
The guides are passionate about animal husbandry (this is a ranch as well) and love their horses. They explained us the ins and outs of the traditional Costa Rican tack (it’s basically a western saddle) and let us help tack the horses.
The course is on the ranch’s property, which encompasses many many mountains and fields. We easily rode for at least 1.5 hours without touching the same area twice, and it is completely secluded from public traffic. During your ride you will see cattle, other horses, wildlife, and the pinnacle of the ride is a brief rest on a mountain top with gorgeous views.
We found this ranch via the tourist office within Dreams Las Mareas but I am sure you can contact them directly as well. If you - like myself - are passionate about riding horses on your vacations, Hacienda El Cenizaro is an ideal spot for you.

Had to go back - Phenomenal ride with Popeye—again! We traveled to Costa Rica a second time in December 2020, and I just had to revisit the beautiful Hacienda el Cenizaro for another ride. It did not disappoint. Popeye is the consummate guide—knowledgeable, considerate, and congenial. He makes a point of not only pointing out any and all animals and plants of interest, but he also allows time to take lots of pictures. And I sensed no impatience from Popeye when we stopped so I could try to “talk” to a family of capuchins. All in all, a perfect ride. Thank you, again, Popeye.
