Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - The most prominent feature of Saqqara is the Step Pyramid, the tomb of the Third Dynasty ruler Djoser, constructed by Imhotep. It is considered the earliest major stone structure in Egypt. The pyramid’s form evolved from the large mastabas (mud-brick tombs) of the First and Second Dynasties, with six steps, each smaller than the one below, created by adding successive layers of masonry and enlarging the lower stages.

The Step Pyramid stands 60 meters high and is built from locally quarried clay sandstone of poor quality. Entry into the pyramid is no longer allowed due to safety concerns. The interior chambers and passages were used partly for the burial of the King’s close relatives (especially sons who died young) and partly for storing grave goods for the deceased.

A comfortable and well-supported way to experience Egypt's highlights - I would recommend Look at Egypt. We greatly enjoyed our visit to Egypt with them, and the core elements of our tour were very well organised. The accommodation and transport were comfortable and of a high standard. The itinerary was thoughtfully designed, allowing us to see the highlights of this spectacular country without feeling rushed. We had particularly positive experiences with our Egyptologist guides, Sameh in Cairo and Ayman in Luxor. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about Egypt’s history. The Look at Egypt drivers were also consistently kind, professional, and personable. Our experience was less positive when we deviated from the standard itinerary. We added an extra day tour at the end of our trip to fill some free time before our flight, and unfortunately this did not feel like good value for money compared to the rest of the tour. In addition, our baggage was lost en route to Egypt. While Look at Egypt indicated they would help us recover it, the support we actually received from them was limited. Although I understand that this situation was not their responsibility, we were also quoted transport costs to travel to the airport to retrieve the baggage that felt disproportionately high, which was disappointing. Overall, Look at Egypt provided a strong and enjoyable core tour experience, but their handling of additional arrangements and unforeseen issues could be improved.

The trip of a lifetime where a boy’s dream of Ancient Egypt became a man’s reality - From the moment my wife and I were met by Mr. Mohammed Ezz at the airport, we knew we had made a wise decision. He coordinated our experience with an ease and charm that immediately disarmed us and made us feel so well taken care of. But our most incredible, magical journey didn't begin there. It began nearly 6 years ago in planning by email, beginning in June of 2021, and continuing with our personal tour consultant and Tourism Manager Mr. Ahmed Mossaheb all the way up to getting the chance to meet him on our trip a couple of weeks ago. We had to reschedule and postpone for so long, so many times, including a bout of cancer I may not have beaten just yet (which added a layer of deeper meaning to everything about this tour) and everyone we dealt with was so understanding and easy to work with. First off, we thought we were going to be with a tour group. Nope. Just us, an expert Egyptologist, and a driver. Every single one of them treated us with such compassion, care, and warmth, I'm tearing up as I write this. What an adventure. We saw pyramids, tombs, temples, mummies and artifacts from thousands of years ago. We saw the Great Pyramids. We saw the first pyramid of King Djoser and went inside the Red Pyramid. We did and saw so much, I’ll be processing this adventure for a long while. We were led initially by the wonderful Mr. Fayed. He took us to see things that blew our minds in and around Cairo, including the newly, fully opened Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which houses the artifact I've waited nearly 50 years to see - the golden death mask of King Tutankhamun. I was obsessed with King Tut as a kid, as the blockbuster exhibition toured the nation, but I never got to go. This trip was the culmination of a lifetime, of sorts. Anyway, Mr. Fayed led us with a calmness and warmth that really touched us both, and Mr. Ibrahim drove us - such a lovely man. We were meant to be with Mr. Fayed again at the end of our tour, but again, they allowed us to switch up the plan and return on our final day of amazing adventures to the GEM for a full day, driven again by Mr. Ibrihim, who moved through the chaos of Cairo traffic like you can’t really describe. To an American, seeing this was an amazing feat, and he did it with a patience and ease like I’ve never seen before. And such a sweet, kind, soul. Then we flew to Luxor to meet our new guide and Egyptologist, Mr. Mahamed Farrag. He became like my brother, as well as being our expert guide, who taught us so much. He took us to meet King Tut himself in The Valley of the Kings and so much more. I’m flooded with incredible memories. He led us to amazing temples and tombs, some nearly to ourselves, some packed with tourists, but Mohamed had the most perfect timing of anyone I’ve ever met. He got us into and out of places to have them almost to ourselves before being overrun by fellow tourists. He knew how to do everything just right, and he treated us with a respect and kindness that became a kind of love over the week spent with him, riding from Luxor to Aswan aboard the Jaz Elite - a Nile cruise boat that spoiled us with their service. We have dietary restrictions, and the boat staff were so gracious about accommodating us, I can’t thank them enough. I especially remember Ehad and Mohamed as being so patient and understanding. We decided for our last day, due to my unfaded wonder of King Tut, as well as our dwindling energy, that we would forgo the Coptic Quarter of Cairo as well as the Khan el-Kalili market and return to the GEM. As Mr. Ibrihim drove us to the museum, we stopped to get the tickets at the Look at Egypt offices, and out came our consultant and tourism manager Mr. Mossaheb with a smile, a warm handshake, and a gift for Catherine. He didn’t need to do that, and we were so touched he did. Well this turned out to be a really long review, but it’s all true - no fiction. We have some minor gripes and complaints, but they’re more about the cultural differences - like public restroom culture and tipping customs - than about our overall experience in this great ancient land, led throughout by an absolutely professional, personal, and dare I say, loving crew. We will never forget it and are forever grateful. We hope this testament can help make up for the huge tip we wish we could have given you. You’ve helped me fulfill my childhood dream. In sha Allah, we will see you all again.

Well Executed Private Tour - My husband and I just completed a private 11 day tour of Cairo, Nile Cruise and Abu Simbel. All hotels, flights, transportation and tours were arranged via email with Yasmine from Look At Egypt. Once we arrived in Cairo, the execution of the plan was flawless and we were treated like VIP by all drivers & tour guides. We were escorted back and forth from airport by Eslam Ghaly who ensured our luggage and boarding were handled efficiently. Our tour guide in Cairo, Mohamed Sheta, was an extremely knowledgeable Egyptologist. He really has a wealth of information to share in perfect English He provided us with lots of facts on each site but also gave us ample time to explore on our own.. Our tour guide during the Nile Cruise was Ayman Morning who met us at every stop and personally led us through every site. Eslam continued throughout the week to check on us and ensure that everything was fine. Our driver Omar and the the other drivers managed the crazy traffic so that we always felt safe and secure with their skills on the road. A shout out to Omar who reminded us to get our passports when necessary!

Incredible Experience with Incredible Tour Group - A trip of a lifetime. Wonderful tour group from the moment we got off the plane to the moment we boarded our return flight home. The tour company was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. Our tour guides Randa (Cairo, Giza, Memphis, Saqqara) and Mohamed (Luxor, Aswan, Valley of Kings, Abu Simbel) were personable and have extensive knowledge of the sites that we visited. Our driver (Sameh) was amazing especially in Cairo where no American should ever drive. We were greeted by Mahmoud who got us through customs in a flash and already had our Visas waiting for us. We were with a private tour of 12 people and the guides gave us direction on where and when to be somewhere each day. The communication was exceptional. Our tour group had flights returning home all throughout our last day and my wife and I had a 7:00 a.m. flight. Mahmoud and Sameh greeted us at 3:00 a.m. with a smile and they made sure we got to our flight safe and sound. For those of you concerned about safety, there is no need as there was never one moment that we felt unsafe and were never put in a position where we felt nervous. In fact, at times when the locals were wanting to get close to us to sell their merchandise, our tour guides were there to make sure they didn't bother us too much and advised our group on how to get through with little to no worry. I would highly recommend this tour company and would use them again in a heartbeat upon a return trip to Egypt or any other tours this company would provide. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience.

Fantastic Tour Company!! - My husband and I just returned from the 10 day Treasures of Egypt private tour. Our thanks and gratitude to Look at Egypt Tours and the VIP service we received from them for making our vacation so amazing and truly unforgettable. A company representative met us at the airport in Cairo and led us through passport control, security and helped with our luggage. Another representative aided us with the check-in process at the hotel. We also had the benefit of two very knowledgeable Egyptologists (Mo in Cairo and Mo in Luxor and Aswan) who expertly guided my husband and I through all the historic sites that were listed on the itinerary. At all times the assistance of a company representative were provided to us. We stayed at The Fairmont Hotel and on the Jaz Regent Nile Cruise ship which were both excellent for their accommodation and service and all the domestic flights that were included in the tour were managed perfectly by Look at Egypt Tours. Honorable mention goes to the excellent drivers that safely navigated us through the streets in Egypt (especially in Cairo) and we enjoyed the comfort and security of a new, large, air-conditioned van each time we required a vehicle. Last but not least, a huge thank-you to Yasmine who was our main contact at Look at Egypt tours. With her wonderful communication skills, she helped us plan our trip to Egypt and made sure we had all the information we required. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is thinking about going to Egypt and wants to enjoy a worry free vacation. This company definitely deserves more than a 5 star rating.

Bucket List Tour with a Wonderful Company - Our experience with Look at Egypt was incredible in every aspect. Absolutely incredible. A trip of a lifetime! - My wife and I (who live in Oregon, USA) went to Egypt for 2 weeks over Christmas 2023 with Look at Egypt Tours. We had both wanted to go since we were little kids, so we had high expectations. Look at Egypt Tours just blew our expectations out of the water. We had the trip of a lifetime! We could not be more happy with our experience, and we highly recommend this company and travel team. We made life long friends on this incredible journey. We felt safe, comfortable, heard, and in control the entire time we were there. While some people seem hesitant to travel to Egypt right now; in my experience, it is the perfect time to go. If you are considering traveling to Egypt, here are some more details about our trip and our experience with Look at Egypt Tours. Everything was well organized, transparent, affordable, comfortable and just flat out amazing. Our trip planner, Ayat, organized the perfect itinerary for us. We were able to set up a video chat to go over everything before we left for Egypt, and she was available on Whatsapp for the whole trip to answer any questions. Our liaison, Walid, was extremely helpful for the entire time we were in Egypt. He met us at the airport (x2), set us up at our hotels in Cairo (x3), and with our individual guilds. He played point man, interpreter, intermittent guild, and travel companion at times. He was even able to organize additional itinerary for us on the spot when we had a little extra time! He and our driver, Ibrahim, were just a delight to spend time with and get to know. Driving in Egypt is a wild experience. Ibrahim (sometimes with Walid) always picked us up on time, made us feel comfortable and safe, and remained flexible to accommodate anything we wanted to do on our excursions together. Our guilds were also amazing. Mohamed, who guided us up (Southward) the Nile to places like Karnak, Luxor Temple, Valley of Kings, Edfu, Abu Simbel (just to name a few), we got to know fairly well over the course of 5 days. He was knowledgeable, flexible, funny, and professional. I almost cried when we had to say good by. The boat that our small group took, Nile Paradise, was aptly named. The food and accommodations were great, but it was the staff members who really shown. Everyone was extremely helpful, kind, and professional. I felt like I was in a movie! Our other guilds were also top notch! Fayed, who took us to Sakkara, Giza, The Citadel, the Bazaar, and the Cairo Egyptian Museum was a delight. He knew all the best photos to take, what we were most interested in, and helped us ride camels. He was even able to assist us in purchasing some papyrus art that we'd been looking forward to since planning the trip. The first of our two extra day-trips that Walid was able to organize for us while we were already there, was to Alexandria. Marwa, our guild, was incredible. She knew we only had 1 day, and was great at showing us as much of Alexandria as we could see. Having fresh caught fish out over the water after looking at ruins and the new Library of Alexander, was especially fun. The second of our impromptu day trips was to Fayum (the desert), and Waliid (with our driver Ibrahim) was able to accompany us. We had an experienced guild, Mohamed, pick us up in a 4x4 and take us through the Egyptian desert. We saw whale fossils, rare birds, incredible desert landscapes, and even did some dune off-roading and sandboarding! I really cannot recommend this team enough. Egypt is an incredible country with vast ruins and a rich culture. The experience is something that we will never forget. Thank you Look at Egypt Tours!

Wonderful trip to Egypt - We had a wonderful time on our tour of Egypt. Mamoud greeted and welcomed us and took us effortlessly through customs. Upon arrival to the Ritz Carlton hotel in Cairo, he got us our rooms and exchanged currency for us. The first tour guide we had was a lady named Randa. She was extremely knowledgable and a fantastic tour guide. You could tell that she was proud of Cairo. We did so many interesting things and all of the tours ran very well and smoothly. We visited the old and new Pyramids as well as going on a camel ride. We also went to the local market, the mosque and Coptic Cairo and did many other interesting things. All of the drivers we had were very impressive as driving in Cairo certainly was not easy as it was driving through the Sahara desert in the wee hours of the morning on the second part of our tour. Our second tour started in Luxor. We did a four day cruise on the Nile River. The scenery was spectacular and our tour guide there was knowledgeable. We went to the valley of the kings and did many other temples. We were picked up always on time and returned when we expected. There were a lot of early mornings though, so be prepared!! I would highly recommend this tour company. Everyone was very friendly and things went very smoothly. We created a lot of wonderful memories. We felt extremely safe at all times despite what is going on around Egypt.
